About The Position

The Director of Revenue Cycle is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational performance, and financial outcomes of the organization's end-to-end revenue cycle. This leader owns the revenue cycle beginning with charge capture, claim validation, and pre-bill quality controls through claim submission, reimbursement, payment posting, denial management, accounts receivable, and patient collections. This role is accountable for maximizing cash flow, accelerating reimbursement, reducing denaged receivables, and ensuring operational excellence across all revenue cycle functions. The Director serves as the organization's subject matter expert in reimbursement operations and is expected to proactively identify trends, analyze performance, solve root causes, and partner cross-functionally to eliminate barriers impacting revenue. Success in this role requires an analytical, technology-savvy leader who thrives on using data to drive decisions, improve processes, and deliver measurable financial results. This role demonstrates exceptional analytical thinking and intellectual curiosity. This role proactively investigates anomalies, identifies trends, asks insightful questions, and independently develops data-driven recommendations. The person in this role does not rely solely on standard reports but knows where to look within systems and data to uncover revenue opportunities, operational risks, and process failures.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Business or related field
  • 8-10 years healthcare accounts receivable experience in a healthcare experience.
  • Multi-site healthcare revenue cycle leadership required.
  • Demonstrated success improving cash collections, reducing DSO, reducing denials, improving reimbursement, and leading operational transformation initiatives.
  • Experience partnering across Finance, Operations, Clinical Services, Patient Access, and Information Technology.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Behavioral Health, Eating Disorder, Mental Health, or Hospital revenue cycle experience strongly preferred.
  • Graduate Degree - MBA or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead through influence across Finance, Operations, Clinical Services, Patient Access, Utilization Review, Compliance, and Information Technology.
  • Lead all revenue cycle operations, including billing, claims management, payment posting, collections, denials, and accounts receivable to maximize timely and accurate reimbursement.
  • Drive revenue performance through KPI monitoring, trend analysis, root cause resolution, and executive reporting on cash, AR, denials, DSO, and payer performance.
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Patient Access, Clinical, Utilization Review, IT, and Payer Strategy to resolve reimbursement barriers and improve revenue cycle outcomes.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives that strengthen clean claim performance, reduce manual work and denials, increase automation, and improve financial results.
  • Develop, coach, and lead a high-performing revenue cycle team while fostering accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
