About The Position

The Director of Resident Care is responsible for coordinating all aspects of resident care to promote their comfort, safety, physical and mental well-being. This role involves coordinating staff to provide high-quality care on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week. The Director acts as a liaison between residents, their families, staff, and medical practitioners, utilizing excellent nursing professional judgment and outstanding customer service skills.

Requirements

  • Florida Registered Nurse.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience with a large staff.
  • Must be capable of initiating and implementing major decisions.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written in English.
  • Must be able to write a budget proposal for nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to the operation of an ALF.
  • Polite, responsible, outgoing, punctual, quick on the feet and resourceful.
  • Flexibility as to work schedule.
  • Flexibility is greatly appreciated at times of need or emergency.
  • Must be available during emergency situations.
  • Can make independent decisions and solve problems.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and multi-task and can remain calm while directing other staff in an emergency or crisis situations.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently AND as a team member.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision and scheduling of a large nursing staff including the Assistant Director of Resident Care, Night Supervisors, Nursing Assistants and Unit Clerks.
  • Ensuring compliance with all established rules, regulations, and standards as required by all licensing authorities.
  • Providing educational experiences to keep all staff members informed of new developments within the sphere of care, particularly regarding geriatric care.
  • Coordinating all interdepartmental activities.
  • Assessing residents for changes in health status.
  • Determining appropriate action to be taken during medical emergencies.
