About The Position

The RelateStrong Director for the Boone Center for the Family (BCFF) at Pepperdine University provides management and leadership for the RelateStrong program. The RelateStrong Director integrates RelateStrong concepts into their personal and professional life. The primary responsibility of the RelateStrong Director is to serve the relational needs of churches and academic organizations through developing strategic partnerships, administrating (organizing and planning) RelateStrong programming, and leading some RelateStrong programming. The RelateStrong Director guides the direction and focus of RelateStrong, expanding its reach and brand; writes, edits, publishes, and coordinates curriculum; writes grant proposals; trains leaders; and presents seminars and workshops locally and nationally. The RelateStrong Director is an integral part of the BCFF team, working on other projects as directed.

Requirements

  • MA or terminal degree in psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or related field.
  • Training in theology or Biblical studies.
  • Three years of experience in the psycho-educational field, directing, coordinating, and managing programs.
  • Think Biblically about psychology and relationships.
  • Ability to build partnerships with leaders of churches, schools, and other organizations.
  • Strong administrative skills to organize and plan programming.
  • Presentation and small group leadership skills, curriculum development skills, and event planning skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with donors and supporters.
  • Administrative and organizational skills.
  • Must be a team player and must exhibit the flexibility required to work within a small organization.
  • Computer competency and experience with Google Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading RelateStrong groups or trained in Restoration Therapy for 2 or more years.
  • Experience in a ministry setting.
  • Knowledge of university systems and procedures.
  • Experience in grant writing and research.
  • Experience using Adobe Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships with church and academic leaders and other Christian influencers to expand the national and international impact of RelateStrong. Some relationships may be developed by attending and presenting at conferences and other events.
  • Organize and plan RelateStrong programming on campus at Pepperdine, online, and onsite around the country, coordinating with others trained in RelateStrong to lead the actual workshops, trainings, Ministers Marriage Enrichment retreats, RelateStrong Leadership Series sessions, and other events.
  • Lead on campus, online, and onsite national RelateStrong programming, including trainings, workshops, Ministers Marriage Enrichment retreats, RelateStrong Leadership Series sessions, and other events.
  • Help RelateStrong leaders, including Congregational Care Consultants, around the country maximize their local impact and cultivate these leaders as RelateStrong advocates.
  • Develop and conduct new RelateStrong programming, both trainings and resources, in response to current trends and identified needs.
  • Work with the Boone Center Office Manager to ensure the RelateStrong webpages are current and to develop marketing materials.
  • Write grant proposals to fund RelateStrong programming.
  • Track RelateStrong's national and international impact.
  • Present at bi-annual Boone Center Advisory Board meetings and build relationships with Boone Center Advisory Board members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and participate in other events as directed, such as but not limited to, Heart & Soul (Boone Center's annual fundraising event) and Harbor (Pepperdine's Bible conference); conduct program analysis research; and remain up to date in the field of relationship education.
