Be the one who makes a difference—with us. The Regional Director/Deputy Superintendent is appointed to support school principals and supervise all school operations and academics. SUPERVISORY AND MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Deputy Superintendent Handling parent grievances, serve as first line of support for principals with HR concerns, oversees campus Academic Operations/Events, student discipline, carryout coaching opportunities for principal (identified with superintendent and leadership coach), carryout plan for operational outcomes set forth by superintendent, participates in administrative hiring, validate compliance with Federal Programs and ESS, conduct instructional visits, participate in campus development, assist with academic calendars, attend CTMs, guide principals in interpreting Legacy policies & procedures. Regional Director Participate in Vertex thematic goal, support academic team goals and initiatives, partner with Vertex department directors to deliver exceptional service, serve as hearing officer in Legacy expulsion hearings. Additionally, Regional Directors establish clear expectations to improve principal performance and provide leadership in the development of instructional goals and objectives. Regional Directors supervise the selection, implementation, and evaluation of staff development activities designed to enhance academic and operational programs.

Requirements

  • Maintain current DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card as required by law.
  • Masters degree in Education/Administration/Educational Leadership.
  • Arizona principal certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years school administration experience.
  • Two years experience in operations of a charter school.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of school operations and is considered a subject matter expert within the district on school operations.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from team members, supervisors, managers, and directors.
  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Position requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Works effectively and relates well with others including superior, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside of the school district.
  • Exhibits professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Ability to represent agency effectively in a variety of settings with diverse communities.

  • Minimum of 5 years teaching and school administration experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in operation of a charter school.
  • Experience with central operations of a school district and oversight of district-wide departments.
  • Experience with alignment of curriculum to state standards.
  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Supports all operational and academic needs of the campus.
  • Establish relationships and maintain professional relationships with school principals.
  • Actively participate in Vertex thematic goals- in and out of state.
  • Will facilitate regional team meetings and schedule 1:1s with school principals.
  • Utilize the Deputy Checklist through completing and submitting to principal and Superintendent.
  • Attendance at monthly principal and assistant principal meetings, admin pre-service, new principal and assistant principal training.
  • Attend flag ceremonies, campus meetings, fire drills, teacher pre-service and athletic events at a minimum of 1 of each per year.
  • Normal classroom observations through use of HLPs.
  • Attend CTMs to give high-level feedback to principal.
  • Collaboration and frequent communication with Leadership Coaches.
  • Oversee campus dashboards.
  • Evaluate the state of ESS of school campuses i.e. Due-processes, Manifestations, IEP compliance and 504 compliance.
  • Assist in interpreting policies and procedures.
  • Respond to concerns from parents, staff and community within a timely manner.
  • Participate in essential meetings and projects related to the role.
  • Assist with recruitment, selection and placement of administrators.
  • Receive input and concerns from all Stakeholders and report to Superintendent and site administrators.
  • Consults with Human Resources as appropriate; document occurrences that may require additional support and bring compliance and high-level issues to Superintendent.
  • Collect pertinent data to assist principal with academic and operational needs.
  • Communicate with key Vertex staff as it relates to campuses i.e. Food Services, Community Ed, Compliance etc.
  • Performs all other related duties, as assigned.
