About The Position

The Oldfield Club, located in Okatie, SC, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Director of Racquet Sports! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast‑paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you’ll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management. The Director of Racquet Sports is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the tennis and pickleball programs while delivering an exceptional member experience. This position manages racquet programming, lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments, and special events, supervises racquet sports staff, and helps grow participation in both tennis and pickleball. The Director of Racquet Sports will work closely with the Director of Sports & Wellness to ensure the courts, programs, and member experience consistently reflect the standards of Oldfield Club.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of racquet sports, tennis, pickleball, recreation, or private club experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience coordinating racquet sports programming, lessons, clinics, leagues, and events.
  • USPTA or PTR Professional certification required or ability to obtain within an approved timeframe.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of court maintenance and racquet sports instruction.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience supervising staff is preferred.
  • Pickleball certification (IPTPA, PPR, or similar) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional member service and build strong relationships with members.
  • Maintain a regular on-site presence while working a 40-hour work week, including evenings, weekends, and club events as needed.
  • Ensure the tennis and pickleball facilities are clean, organized, safe, and professionally maintained at all times.
  • Teach private lessons, group lessons, clinics, and camps for tennis and pickleball.
  • Plan, organize, and execute tournaments, social events, leagues, camps, and other racquet programming.
  • Grow participation and retention through engaging programs and member outreach.
  • Build relationships with both active and non-participating racquet members.
  • Schedule and oversee court usage for lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments, and member play.
  • Assist in managing the racquet sports operating budget.
  • Perform routine maintenance of the tennis courts and pickleball courts, including sweeping, lining, dragging, watering, rolling, and preparing courts for play when maintenance staff is unavailable or additional support is needed.
  • Conduct daily court inspections and coordinate maintenance needs.
  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising racquet sports staff.
  • Support the Sports Club by answering member questions, assisting with merchandise sales, and promoting club programs.
  • Create racquet-related marketing content, newsletters, and member communications.
  • Work closely with the Director of Sports & Wellness to ensure the successful operation of the racquet sports department, including programming, member initiatives, and daily operations.
  • Attend department and club meetings and contribute to operational planning.
  • Promote safe work practices while maintaining dependable attendance and a professional demeanor.
