About The Position

The Director of Quality is responsible for the overall quality of products manufactured or sourced for customers. The role evaluates production operations at a strategic level, maintains and implements quality-system processes and records, supports IATF 16949 efforts, and develops quality goals and performance metrics aligned with company objectives. The Director works with customers and cross-functional management to resolve complex quality issues and establish standards that meet internal and external requirements.

The position oversees quality controls and risk assessments for new product introductions and change management; investigations and corrective or preventive actions; disposition of nonconforming materials; and the warranty and product-return process. It also reviews quality-assurance data and metrics to identify trends, reduce variation and waste, and drive product and process improvements. The Director manages and develops assigned employees, determines staffing and skill requirements, and monitors the effectiveness of the Quality system.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of Quality Engineering experience.
• Minimum 5 years of management experience.
• Industry experience with ISO 9001, APQP, and 8D.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership ability.
• Ability to interact with customers at all levels.
• Competency with quality systems, including ISO 9001/IATF 16949, internal auditing, and customer-specific requirements.
• Competency with quality documentation, including inspections, submission change forms, DMS, BOM/routing, and quality metrics.
• Competency with APQP methods, including PPAP, MSA, and SPC.
• Competency in corrective action, preventive action, 8D, and root cause analysis.
• Computer skills with O365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams), Minitab, and SAP or another ERP system.

Nice To Haves

• IATF 16949 experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate production operations to ensure products meet quality, integrity, functionality, and other specifications and requirements.
• Maintain and ensure effective implementation of quality-system processes, procedures, and records.
• Support IATF 16949 efforts and ensure timely follow-up on open Quality System issues.
• Develop and communicate quality goals and performance metrics.
• Interact with customers to resolve complex issues.
• Collaborate with management and senior staff across departments to develop and maintain quality standards.
• Oversee quality controls and risk assessments for new product introductions and change management.
• Oversee quality problem investigations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions for nonconforming products or processes.
• Review quality-assurance data and preventive actions to reduce variation and waste and meet company objectives.
• Ensure timely disposition of nonconforming materials.
• Develop and maintain warranty and product-return processes, including processes for identifying opportunities, creating action plans, and providing feedback for improvements.
• Manage and develop assigned employees and determine staffing and skill requirements to meet organizational needs.
• Monitor the use and effectiveness of Quality system processes and review metrics and results to identify trends or potential problem areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
