About The Position

This role is responsible for leading the product selection and pricing function across assigned categories for all Green Valley Grocery retail stores. The Director of Purchasing will research products, select products to build strong product line performance, lead vendor negotiations, and establish, monitor, and adjust pricing as appropriate. This position will utilize financial and operational analytics to evaluate margins, pricing, and overall product profitability, developing and driving strategies for optimal product performance. Additionally, the role involves developing category schematics, determining product flow using customer traffic pattern data for effective product placement, researching and analyzing market trends, and building strong vendor partnerships to meet changing customer needs. Collaboration with internal and external partners to develop and implement effective marketing strategies is also a key responsibility. Any other duties as assigned by Company Management.

Requirements

  • Previous category merchandising/procurement experience or an equivalent education and experience
  • Previous marketing/advertising experience
  • Previous experience leading vendor negotiations
  • Proficient with product information systems (PDI preferred)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Previous center store and/or cigarette/tobacco/OTP category merchandising/procurement experience or an equivalent education and experience
