About The Position

The Director of Purchasing plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the supply chain and procurement processes. They are responsible for overseeing the sourcing, purchasing, and negotiating of goods and services necessary for day-to-day operations. This role demands strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of market dynamics to optimize procurement strategies and drive cost efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPIM, CSCP, CPSM).
  • Extensive experience in a senior procurement role.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics and procurement best practices.
  • Proven track record of successful supplier negotiations.
  • Experience with procurement software and ERP systems.
  • Advanced analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management.
  • Domestic and international iron foundry sourcing.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Solid understanding of financial principles related to procurement.
  • Ability to make strategic decisions and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of purchasing practices and market conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to obtain the best terms and conditions.
  • Monitor and analyze purchasing trends to forecast future needs.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Oversee the procurement budget and ensure financial efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to procurement.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of purchasing professionals.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand their purchasing needs.
  • Conduct regular market research to stay updated on industry trends.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the purchasing department.
  • Evaluate and improve existing procurement processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of procurement orders.
  • Manage the RFQ process for material and subcontract suppliers.
  • Assist quality on supplier quality issues that impact first pass yield with castings and forgings.
  • Manage all inbound logistics that are not covered by the customer (including international shipments).
  • Manage customer compliance reporting requests.
