•$200,000 - $250,000

About The Position

Via is seeking a Director of Product to define and drive the next era of Remix, its transit planning and scheduling platform. The role will shape Remix into a multimodal planning and scheduling system that provides transit agencies with an authoritative place to make informed decisions across fixed route, paratransit, microtransit, and emerging service types. This high-impact, high-ownership position owns the end-to-end product experience, from strategic planning through live execution. The Director will help agencies move from static schedules toward data-driven, dynamically optimized operations while accounting for labor rules, contractual constraints, and operational needs. The work is intended to improve the reliability of public transit experienced by millions of riders.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including ownership of complex enterprise software products.
  • Track record of shipping high-quality products in sophisticated, workflow-heavy enterprise environments where errors carry significant costs.
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with operational detail.
  • Strong ability to simplify complexity by translating varied customer needs and intricate business rules into clean, scalable product decisions.
  • Empathy for daily users such as planners, schedulers, and dispatchers, and ability to design for their working context.
  • Ability to become technically fluent in scheduling and operations data models and entities, including blocks, runs, trips, stops, vehicles, duties, and pairings, and engage with engineers and architects at that level.
  • Credibility and strength in technical architecture discussions with engineering partners, including evaluating tradeoffs and advocating for platform choices that meet current needs and support long-term scalability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with resource management, labor scheduling, or workforce optimization software.
  • Experience in transportation, transit, or logistics; this is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the product vision and roadmap for Remix as a global standard for multimodal transit planning and scheduling.
  • Build a framework for data-driven scheduling that helps agencies optimize driver and vehicle time using ridership patterns, operational constraints, and service goals.
  • Incorporate labor union rules, collective bargaining agreements, and workforce regulations into the product in a structured yet adaptable way.
  • Connect planning and scheduling with live operations to improve the accuracy of schedules, dispatcher confidence, and rider reliability.
  • Partner with engineering, design, data science, and go-to-market teams to deliver products with clear milestones and measurable outcomes.
  • Engage directly and frequently with transit planners, schedulers, and operations leaders to identify unmet needs and validate product direction.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging regulations, and competitive dynamics to keep Remix ahead of the market.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health coverage, with low-cost dental and vision plans.
  • 401(k) with a generous company match and vesting.
  • Fully paid parental leave for new parents, with extended leave options.
  • Mental health benefits, pet insurance, and other wellness perks.
  • 20 days of paid time off annually.
  • Variable pay and equity in addition to base salary.
