About The Position

The Director of Product is responsible for defining and executing Quantum Systems Inc.’s product roadmap across all hardware and software products. Reporting directly to the CEO, this leader will oversee all Product Managers as well as own product strategy, roadmap, definition, configuration, and lifecycle – all with an eye toward ensuring our end users have the most reliable and effective unmanned systems possible. The Director of Product further ensures that product investments align with corporate strategy, customer needs, engineering capacity, and revenue objectives while balancing innovation with execution. Finally, the Director of Product maintains a product culture wherein success subsists in shipping reliable, cutting-edge products at speed: not in effort expended, in impressive demonstrations or promising but unrealized prototypes, but in finished products that ship and contribute to end user mission success in the real world.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field: Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, or similar.
  • Deep knowledge of the defense robotics and unmanned systems industry landscape.
  • Deep technical knowledge of unmanned systems and all associated technologies.
  • 10+ years of progressive product and engineering management experience.
  • 5+ years leading product teams.
  • Demonstrated history of bringing complex technical products to market successfully.
  • United States Citizen due to government contracts.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree (MBA or Engineering).
  • Experience with DoD acquisition processes.
  • Experience with agile product development.
  • Experience supporting international product portfolios.
  • Knowledge of export-controlled products (ITAR/EAR).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the company's overall product strategy and roadmap and then work closely with engineering to execute it.
  • Own portfolio prioritization and provide product investment recommendations.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, regulations, requirements, trends, the competitive landscape, and customer feedback. Constantly feed those inputs into product development in close collaboration with Business Development, Flight Ops, and Program Management organizations.
  • Lead and mentor Product Managers and establish consistent product management processes across all product lines.
  • Prioritize resources across competing product initiatives.
  • Ensure products achieve required cost, schedule, and performance targets.
  • Directly and through product managers, oversee the full product lifecycle from concept and requirements definition, through sustainment, upgrades, and retirement.
  • Ensure that product configurations are well defined and aligned with Business Development.
  • Represent our products internally and externally, contributing to sales and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders, as well as critical customer events.
  • Support engineering trade studies and milestone reviews.
  • Present portfolio updates, business cases, and product performance reports to executive leadership.
  • Develop KPIs and executive dashboards for product health.
