About The Position

Help Scout is seeking a Director of Product Marketing to lead the company's product marketing strategy, positioning, narrative, and go-to-market approach in a competitive market. This role is crucial for shaping how customers, prospects, and the industry perceive Help Scout's platform, especially with the company's new AI-driven vision and accelerated product development. The Director will report to the VP of Marketing, manage the Lead Product Marketing Manager, and be responsible for ensuring the value of AI-driven product investments is clearly communicated to the market. This role is open to US-based applicants only.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in product marketing for a B2B SaaS product or AI platform.
  • Proven track record of owning strategy, not just executing campaigns.
  • Expertise in core product marketing disciplines: positioning, messaging, buyer personas/ICP, sales enablement, and launches.
  • Ability to identify high-value activities critical for the business.
  • Experience managing people, including coaching on craft, delegating ownership, and fostering growth into senior responsibility.
  • A clear point of view on credibly positioning AI-powered products, with direct experience marketing AI features or products ideally.
  • Daily use of AI tools to enhance personal and team output, with specific examples of AI's impact on speed, quality, or scale.
  • Strong storytelling skills, with the ability to write narratives that simplify complex products and make them memorable.
  • Proficiency in communicating and building relationships in a remote, asynchronous environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own product marketing strategy, setting and executing quarterly and long-term strategies for product positioning based on market trends, competitive analysis, and company direction.
  • Build and scale the product marketing function by managing and coaching the Lead Product Marketing Manager, setting priorities, and developing a roadmap for future headcount and capabilities.
  • Enable the entire company (sales, support, and other teammates) to understand and articulate the value of shipped products, building frameworks that drive new revenue and expansion.
  • Shape competitive intelligence by developing a strategic point of view on market direction and how Help Scout can win, influencing product-led growth, sales, and expansion strategies.
  • Own major product launches and seasonal release events end-to-end, setting strategy and narrative, and coordinating across departments for impactful execution.
  • Represent Help Scout's product story externally through various channels (guest posts, podcasts, social media) to build visibility and establish the company as a category leader.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and an internal, transparent salary formula based on market data
  • Flexible time off
  • 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all new parents (including adoption and foster care)
  • Home office stipend
  • Co-working stipend up to $300 a month
  • Yearly professional development stipend of $1,800
  • Top-tier health insurance for you and your dependents (for US and Canada)
