About The Position

ezCater is the #1 food tech platform for workplaces in the US, simplifying food management and ordering from over 125,000 restaurants. We provide flexible solutions for employee meals and meetings, supported by 24/7 service and reliability. For restaurant partners, we drive business growth by connecting them with high-value customers and large orders. The delivery of catering is a critical, high-stakes operation, distinct from simple doorstep delivery. It involves orchestrating the last mile across the country with significant volume and complexity, requiring specialized software that is not readily available off the shelf. We are seeking a Director of Product to define and lead the Delivery & Fulfillment Intelligence Platform. This platform will serve as the system of record and intelligence for every delivery, covering the full lifecycle from demand and capacity planning, promise and lead-time calculation, routing and dispatch, in-flight risk detection and intervention, to handoff, setup, and a continuous learning loop for improvement. This role will leverage our multi-year re-platform investment, utilizing modern primitives to build the delivery domain from the ground up. The position is within the Platform domain, reports to the VP of Product Management for Platforms, and includes a dedicated engineering, data, and data science team. Collaboration will be key, working closely with Supply Chain Operations, Delivery Partnerships, CX Product, and Restaurant Technology. This role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape a critical, unsolved problem in logistics.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years leading product managers.
  • Deep grounding in platform, infrastructure, logistics, or marketplace operations products.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and retaining strong product managers.
  • Demonstrated track record owning fulfillment, dispatch, logistics, or supply-chain intelligence products at meaningful scale (last-mile delivery, freight, field service, on-demand marketplaces, or comparable physical-operations businesses).
  • Real depth in at least two of: routing and dispatch optimization, ETA and travel-time prediction, demand and capacity forecasting, risk scoring and anomaly detection, or geospatial data systems.
  • Experience shipping ML-backed products in production, understanding calibration, training/serving skew, offline/online evaluation, and operating models that make financial decisions.
  • Ability to engage senior engineers as a peer on event-driven architecture (event schemas, state machines, idempotency, service boundaries, API contracts, durable workflow orchestration).
  • Experience in multi-sided marketplaces with third-party partner networks, SLAs, rate cards, and capacity commitments.
  • Deep analytic ability, including building metrics frameworks and identifying data quality issues.
  • Track record of influencing peers and executives without authority across product, engineering, data science, operations, and commercial teams.
  • Organizational discipline to run multi-workstream programs across several engineering teams.
  • Comfort operating in a business with real operational history, distinguishing between rebuildable and left-alone components, and sequencing multi-year platform builds for early value delivery.
  • Ability to travel up to 5 days per quarter for Together Weeks, team gatherings, and other events.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within food delivery, restaurant technology, or B2B logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Define the vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for the Delivery & Fulfillment Intelligence Platform, ensuring it owns the decision-making and data, while experience teams focus on customer, driver, and restaurant interfaces.
  • Define the delivery domain from first principles, establishing the canonical event and state model, telemetry and history, and governed contracts for other domains.
  • Develop key capabilities including order risk assessment, proactive intervention, building- and address-level intelligence, decomposed lead-time and promise accuracy, and dynamic real-time re-dispatching.
  • Build capabilities such as demand and capacity forecasting, and network optimization to allocate delivery supply against forecasted demand under various constraints.
  • Partner with the Data organization to instrument the delivery lifecycle, define key metrics (on-time performance, promise accuracy, straight-through rate), and establish a learning loop for continuous improvement.
  • Drive architectural and commercial trade-offs, deciding between building and buying solutions (e.g., ETA services, optimization solvers, telematics) and determining the appropriate use of machine learning, solvers, or rules engines.
  • Partner with Supply Chain Operations, Delivery Partnerships, and Finance to evaluate the potential insourcing of delivery logistics.
  • Represent this work at the executive level, providing a clear point of view and focusing on long-term structural investments.
  • Hire, lead, and grow the product team dedicated to this platform, starting hands-on and expanding the team.
  • Travel to Boston quarterly for planning cycles, architecture reviews, and business reviews.
  • Build logistics infrastructure for a complex delivery problem.
