Director of Product, AI Platform

About The Position

Invoca is seeking a Director of Product, AI Platform, a player-coach role responsible for defining the future of Agentic AI in the enterprise. This role involves owning the Agentic AI domain, including orchestration, context, governance, and evaluation, while also leading two Product Managers responsible for Data Intelligence and Speech AI. The position requires staying hands-on with complex technical problems, building the team, and ensuring coherence across all three AI domains and the underlying infrastructure. The Platform Product team builds shared systems that empower other product teams at Invoca to deliver AI-powered experiences and enables external developers and partners to build on the Invoca platform. The team operates at the intersection of infrastructure, applied AI, Speech AI, and product design, focusing on agent execution, data intelligence, speech AI, evaluation, governance, and external extensibility.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in product management, including direct experience managing PMs, plus a track record of staying genuinely hands-on with the hardest technical problems in your own domain.
  • Background in engineering, computer science, or equivalent hands-on experience building complex software systems.
  • Strong systems-level understanding across at least two of: Agentic AI, Speech AI, and Data Intelligence.
  • Hands-on fluency with the modern agentic AI stack — orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, LangChain), evaluation methods (including LLM-as-judge), and memory architectures — with a strong point of view on using data as a competitive advantage: leveraging structured and unstructured signals across speech, text, and behavioral data to make agents smarter, not just faster.
  • Demonstrated experience defining platform contracts — APIs, configuration models, versioning, lifecycle management.
  • Experience running an external-facing platform product — designing or governing externally-facing APIs or protocols (e.g., MCP, public SDKs, partner integrations) where security, versioning, and backward compatibility have real customer impact, and driving developer acquisition and adoption as a product motion, not just internal rollout.
  • Track record of taking ownership of an ambiguous or underperforming platform area and establishing clear direction.
  • Experience operating in enterprise, multi-tenant environments where privacy, security, and compliance are core constraints.
  • Exceptional communication skills — able to align engineering, data science, product, and GTM stakeholders, and represent platform strategy to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Agentic AI domain directly — orchestration patterns, tool invocation, context handling, evaluation, and promotion gates for agents in production.
  • Lead and coach two PMs — owning Data Intelligence and Speech AI — setting direction, unblocking hard calls, and developing their judgment.
  • Set unified platform strategy across Data Intelligence, Speech AI, and Agentic AI — and the underlying infrastructure beneath them — so all three operate as one coherent system rather than three roadmaps.
  • Architect platform contracts — APIs, schemas, versioned artifacts — that make capabilities portable and governable across all three domains.
  • Own external extensibility and developer growth — define how platform capabilities are exposed directly to customers and partners via MCP and similar standardized interfaces, and drive external developer acquisition, activation, and adoption, balancing openness with governance and security.
  • Partner deeply with engineering on tradeoffs across latency, cost, quality, and complexity.
  • Drive adoption through paved roads, SDKs, and shared components across teams.
  • Enforce governance — evaluation workflows, observability, RBAC, auditability.
  • Represent the platform to executive leadership, translating investment into business outcomes.
