About The Position

The Director of Procurement leads all regional procurement activities across the Americas, aligning regional purchasing strategies with global direction while advancing cost efficiency, supplier performance, risk management, and sustainable sourcing. The role acts as a strategic business partner to regional leadership, creating value through supplier relationships, innovation, and continuous improvement. It calls for an experienced procurement leader with regional market knowledge, experience in global organizations, and a record of leading diverse, high-performing teams.

The position is based in Urbana, Ohio, and is hybrid and full-time. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive procurement and supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
• At least 5 years in a regional or global leadership role within a large global, multinational company.
• Deep knowledge of sourcing practices, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
• Proven track record of delivering cost savings and supplier performance improvements.
• Experience working in a multinational, matrixed organization and driving procurement transformation.
• Familiarity with large ERP systems.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Fluency in English.

Nice To Haves

• MBA or another advanced degree.
• SAP experience.
• Pulp & Paper industry exposure.
• Lean Six Sigma experience; Green Belt certification is a plus.
• Proficiency in Spanish and/or German.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies that support regional business goals and optimize supply chain efficiencies.
• Manage key supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure high standards of compliance and quality.
• Coordinate with internal teams to align procurement strategies with business objectives and operational needs.
• Oversee purchasing budgets and forecasting in alignment with financial targets and market demand.
• Identify supply chain risks and develop strategies to mitigate disruptions.
• Lead and develop the purchasing team, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
• Conduct market research to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and strategic supplier partnerships.
