Inner City Law Center (ICLC), a nonprofit poverty-law firm in Los Angeles’s Skid Row neighborhood, is hiring a Director of Pro Bono to lead efforts to expand the organization’s capacity to provide high-quality legal services. ICLC serves low-income tenants, working-poor families, people experiencing homelessness, people living with HIV/AIDS, people with disabilities, and homeless veterans. The organization uses strategic pro bono collaborations, volunteer opportunities, internships, and fellowship programs to address demand that exceeds its capacity. The Director will build on existing partnerships and develop new ones, while establishing the infrastructure needed to recruit and deploy pro bono resources effectively. The role includes developing internal and external relationships, managing case placements, overseeing the pro bono team and budget, running internship and externship programs, and working with the Development team on funding, grants, and related reporting. The position is a senior, highly relational leadership role combining strategic program development with operational execution. The Director works with private law firms, corporate legal departments, bar associations, and law schools; supervises the Pro Bono Coordinator; and collaborates with ICLC attorneys, organizational leadership, and other stakeholders to ensure pro bono resources are optimized, client-centered, and aligned with ICLC’s mission and priorities. ICLC aims to increase the number and hours of pro bono attorneys by 50% over the next five years.
