About The Position

The Director of Pickleball will oversee the daily operations and continued development of Laurel Oak’s pickleball program, including instruction, programming, leagues, tournaments, special events, member engagement, and court maintenance. Working closely with Club leadership and other departments, the Director will help create a dynamic and inclusive pickleball community, grow participation, and deliver the high level of service expected at Laurel Oak. Laurel Oak Country Club is a distinctive, family-oriented private country club located within the gates of Laurel Oak Estates in Sarasota, Florida. Requirements

  • Two years of teaching experience.
  • USPTA/USAPA/Pickleball certification required or in the process of obtaining them.
  • Good organizational and verbal skills.
  • Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitors and develops subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas, write and read member communication.
  • Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 40 lbs. and up to 20 lbs. frequently.
  • Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting.
  • Ability to consistently lift, carry and load adaptive and other sports equipment that may weigh 30 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide private and group pickleball lessons
  • Provide teaching balls for all lessons and keep them in good order.
  • Organize and run pickleball clinics, socials, and events.
  • Organize and supervise staff assisting with clinics, socials, and events.
  • Correctly charge all lessons and events in the POS.
  • Maintain attendance on the online pickleball reservation system.
  • Correspond with members regarding their lessons and/or clinics.
  • Responsible for inspecting all courts, opening procedures and report any damage or needed repairs to maintenance staff.
  • Make sure all surrounding areas are cleaned and maintained and daily opening procedures are followed.
  • Communication to members in the event of inclement weather.
  • Work in conjunction with Pro Shop Manager to order pickleball merchandise.
  • Responsible for the direction of self and staff of all aspects of special tournaments
