About The Position

ORGANIZE AND DIRECT ALL CLUB TENNIS & PICKLEBALL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS, EXHIBITIONS, TOURNAMENTS AND LESSONS.

Requirements

  • Valid teacher’s certification in the sport designated (Tennis, Fitness).
  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education and preferably, in addition, a master’s degree in athletic administration, or equivalent training.
  • At least five years of experience as a physical education instructor and athletic coach.
  • Good managerial abilities.
  • Valid and up to date CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  • Plans and directs instructional programs.
  • Provides lessons and clinics relating to the techniques and strategies of tennis to members and guests.
  • Organizes, administers and officiates at tournaments, exhibitions and inter- and intra-club social events.
  • Administers and enforces club tennis & pickleball policies and procedures regarding play on club courts.
  • Strings rackets and performs other light equipment repairs.
  • Purchases and maintains adequate beverage and supplies inventory.
  • Coordinates maintenance, repair and cleaning of courts with grounds and maintenance departments.
  • Writes and edits all tennis/pickleball-related news for the club newsletter and website.
  • Selects, trains, supervises and evaluates the Assistant Tennis Professional and other tennis/pickleball staff.
  • Manages the tennis shop.
  • Establishes and implements an accurate inventory control system and reports results accordingly.
  • Transfers all charge tickets from the tennis shop to the accounting department.
  • Develops the budget for the tennis/pickleball profit center; takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget goals are met.
  • Ensures that all club members and guests receive courteous, prompt and professional attention to all their tennis/pickleball needs.
  • Markets tennis/pickleball facilities to members and guests.
  • Develops a detailed annual calendar of tennis & pickleball activities and applicable promotion campaigns during the tennis & pickleball season.
  • Maintains a close working relationship with other club professionals.
  • Attends all staff and management meetings.
  • Maintains an accurate record of all lessons and clinics given; provides written reports on a regular basis.
  • Inspects and maintains all physical areas constantly.
  • Participates on all committees related to the tennis/pickleball operation.
  • Represents the club in area professional tennis activities and at state or national tennis events with approval from the club.
  • Assists Food and Beverage Director, Chef, Banquet/Catering manager to coordinate food and beverage service support for tennis/pickleball events.
  • Ensures that all employees consistently comply with club’s employee manual and with all applicable federal and state employment laws.
  • Oversees entire athletic program to ensure it offers excellent physical education, quality athletic performance, and develops good sportsmanship in all participants.
