About The Position

This position oversees the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients in the assigned department(s) on a twenty four hour basis. Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the overall clinical nursing practice and administrative activities, including fiscal, material and human resource management. Participates in the development and implementation of hospital policies and procedures, maintains open communication with all staff and administrative team to promote improvement in performance, assumes responsibility for the role of administrative supervisor as needed, and provides leadership and support to encourage the optimum development and performance of each staff member. Units reporting to the Director of Perioperative Services, includes: Surgery, SPD, Pre/Post, PACU, Endoscopy.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor's Degree Science of Nursing (BSN) required for all Ochsner Magnet Facilities.
  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association.
  • 5 years of experience as an RN including 2 years of experience as a charge nurse, supervisor or manager.
  • Knowledge of nursing practice.
  • Exceptional leadership skills.
  • Good organizational skills and time management skills ability to be self-directed.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Provides effective leadership to the assigned departments(s) of responsibility.
  • Conducts financial and resource management.
  • Participates in activities for professional growth and development.
  • Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer, including participation in interdepartmental and extracurricular activities.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
