About The Position

The Director of Performance Excellence serves as a trusted advisor and thought partner to senior leaders across the health system. This role leads a high‑performing team of 5 performance advisors responsible for advancing enterprise priorities through rigorous analysis, structured problem solving, and disciplined project execution. Reporting to the Executive Director of Strategy, Analytics, & Innovation, the Director oversees the team’s portfolio that blends one‑time strategic and operational initiatives with ongoing advisory and business intelligence support for assigned service lines and corporate functions. This leader brings a strong command of project management, analytics, stakeholder engagement, and executive communication. The Director ensures the team delivers high‑quality insights, drives measurable outcomes, and strengthens organizational capability for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in business, healthcare administration, public health, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of experience in consulting, strategy, operations, or related roles at a health care provider, payer, or adjacent, including leadership of complex initiatives and broad exposure to a range of functions and project types.
  • 7+ years of experience managing teams and developing talent.
  • Strong analytical skills, including comfort with quantitative analysis, financial modeling, and data interpretation.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders at the executive and department leader level.
  • Experience leading organizational change initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of internal performance advisors with diverse skill sets and experience levels.
  • Establish a culture of analytical rigor, curiosity, accountability, and collaborative problem solving.
  • Prioritize and allocate team resources across a dynamic portfolio of projects.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior executives to understand emerging needs, identify potential initiatives, and foster collaboration and alignment.
  • Represent the Performance Excellence team in system‑wide forums and governance structures.
  • Support the Executive Director in the strategic and financial planning for this team, including the development, analysis, and monitoring of the defined goals.
  • Design and execute on complex, cross‑functional initiatives that advance system‑wide strategic, operational, and financial goals, and advise team members on the same.
  • Monitor progress across the portfolio and proactively address barriers to execution.
  • Own and promulgate best practices on project management methodologies and insight generation.
  • Guide the team in developing data‑driven insights to support key initiatives, translating complex analyses into clear, actionable narratives for executive audiences.
  • Serve as and support team members to serve as a subject‑matter resource for assigned service lines or functions, offering ongoing strategic counsel and performance insights in partnership with the relevant leadership.
  • Partner with analytics, finance, operations, and clinical teams to ensure robust, accurate, and timely data informs decision‑making.
  • Prepare high‑quality presentations, reports, and briefings for senior leadership, the Board, and committees.
  • Coach team members on effective communication and storytelling techniques.
