About The Position

Zero Homes is seeking a Director of People to elevate its people operations from the early stages of a startup to a well-oiled machine. This role will focus on hiring, onboarding, events, and office management to create an incredible and cohesive experience for the team. The goal is to enable rapid growth and establish Zero Homes as a top company in Colorado. The ideal candidate is a natural connector with a passion for building strong team cultures, organizing meaningful events, and handling thoughtful details. They should be comfortable establishing structure, possess a get-it-done attitude, and maintain high standards of integrity and discretion. This role requires the ability to gracefully handle diverse personalities and situations, building trust with leadership by appropriately managing or escalating issues.

Requirements

  • 5-8+ years in People Operations, HR, or a related function, with experience building a people function at a high-growth company.
  • Proven ability to design and implement people programs, policies, and systems from scratch in a fast-moving environment.
  • Comfortable operating as a direct report to a founder or CEO, with the judgment to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and integrity.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting recruiting, compensation, and workforce planning across diverse functions (technical, sales, and field/ops roles) in a high-growth environment.
  • Passion for and skill in creating a fun and meaningful work environment, special events, team building opportunities, and positive recognition programs.
  • Comfortable with modern HRIS and ATS platforms, and G-Suite.
  • A great attitude, presence, and a genuine interest in our mission.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a direct, trusted advisor to the leadership team on people operations, facilities, recruiting, events, and compliance.
  • Build structure and take ownership of shared responsibilities, improving core people program operations and cadences with scalability in mind.
  • Partner with the Lead Recruiter and hiring managers to build a recruiting machine supporting Product, G&A, and Ops roles.
  • Maintain compensation and equity bands to facilitate expedited, confident offers and fair negotiations.
  • Protect and invest in a culture that values meaningful work, relationships, and a sense of humor.
  • Collaborate with the office manager on office improvements and potentially manage a full office build-out.
  • Maintain clean, simple HR policies and processes for compliance without hindering speed.
  • Maintain ironclad confidentiality of human resources data.
