About The Position

This position is responsible for supporting the mission, vision and values of Lifebanc by directing and leading Transplant Services, Referral Services, and Surgical Recovery Services. This position is responsible for clinical oversight in implementing programs and policies that promote organ, eye, and tissue donation. The position is responsible for maintaining a positive donation culture by achieving organizational goals. The position will collaborate across all hospital systems and partners, promote cross-functional teamwork across all Lifebanc departments, and will provide support to all team members. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (health-related field preferred).
  • Previous operating room and sterile technique experience required.
  • Five plus years of experience in professional environment.
  • Two years of supervisory, management, and training experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Communicates job responsibilities and expectations to assure desired results.
  • Ability to be on call and work extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Daily management and oversite of hospital and bereavement team, to include the identification of training and/or development opportunities that will assist the employee in achieving enhanced job performance and/or career objectives, review of personal goals and performance evaluation.
  • Coordinates onboarding, precepting, and training.
  • Ensures the necessary compliance training is completed by the team.
  • Develop professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Constructively coaches and develops staff to seek optimal performance and promote effective leadership.
  • Ability to assess situations and people and respond in a professional manner.
  • Skill in presenting information to various audiences in an engaging and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of regulations related to organ donation (Joint Commission and CMS).
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize electronic documentation system(s).
  • Ability to initiate interpersonal interaction with hospital staff and develop ongoing positive relationships.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of hospital/facility infrastructure.
  • Ability to prioritize based on emergent needs.
  • Ability to adapt and be resilient in stressful situations.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Must be willing to travel to hospitals within the designated system.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • RN and BSN preferred.
  • CTPC and /or CCTC preferred.
  • Three (3) years of OPO experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provides effective and inspiring leadership by being actively involved by directing team operations while identifying organizational opportunities and challenges.
  • Leads, coaches, develop current and emerging high performers.
  • Manages all aspects of the employment cycle (interview, onboard, discipline, performance management and offboarding).
  • Provides project management across multiple departments and communicates organizational directives and strategic plans.
  • Assists in defining and monitoring organizational effectiveness as well as analyzing, trending and reporting all department data.
  • Attends related meetings, as needed, to promote and advance a positive donation culture, to assist in process improvement through continuous development and refinement of policies and procedures, and where applicable, apply industry standards and state/federal law, and build a foundation for mutual feedback to address concerns.
  • Responsible for developing and executing efforts related to missed opportunities, authorization, quality assurance, performance improvement efforts, and after-action reviews.
  • Provides 24-hour call support to ensure donation pathways are protected and real-time issues can be addressed, to maximize donation.
  • Provides strategic direction for Transplant Services, Referral Services, and Surgical Recovery Services departments.
  • Collaborates with transplant centers to develop and implement plans to optimize organ recovery, allocation, and utilization.
  • Collaborates with the Organ Medical Directors to develop policy and procedures to optimize donor screening, management, recovery and utilization.
  • Cultivates relationships with transplant and hospital administrators, third party providers, and other key personnel to promote and advance a positive donation culture within the service area to maximize donation opportunities.
  • Ensure all Transplant Services, Referral Services, and Surgical Recovery Services activities are tracked and documented properly via Lifebanc Electronic Medical Records system (EMR) and related systems.
  • Ensures in the execution of organ and donor plans to create and/or maintain positive changes in practices related to the entire donation process.
  • Responsible for directing budget creation, expense oversight, and performance targets for the Organ service line.
  • Provides oversight into organ recovery activities within the Donor Care Facility or remote recovery if applicable. Works closely with the Director of Facilities on supply, sterile processing, and facility needs.
  • Performs other job duties, as assigned.
