About The Position

The Director of Operations provides leadership and oversight for operational systems and administrative functions that support the delivery of high-quality healthcare and community services at Mazzoni Center. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Operations works collaboratively with department leaders to ensure efficient operations, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination across the organization. This position supports operational infrastructure, implements organizational policies and procedures, and leads cross-department initiatives designed to strengthen operational performance. The Director of Operations plays a key role in supporting healthcare delivery systems, improving patient access, and ensuring operational readiness within a Federally Qualified Health Center environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in healthcare administration, public health, business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred (MPH, MHA, MBA, or related discipline).
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive experience in healthcare administration, nonprofit operations, or a related field.
  • Experience working in community health centers, FQHCs, or safety-net healthcare organizations strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing operational initiatives or coordinating cross-department projects.
  • Understanding of healthcare operations and nonprofit administration.
  • Familiarity with regulatory environments including HRSA health center expectations and healthcare compliance frameworks.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Background checks are required, including Criminal Background Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Clearance.
  • The ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time
  • The ability to lift objects up to 35 pounds
  • The ability to communicate using written and spoken words
  • Must demonstrate visual and auditory acuity
  • Must have all necessary vaccinations

Responsibilities

  • Support the Chief Operating Officer in implementing operational strategies and organizational priorities.
  • Coordinate operational activities across departments to ensure alignment with organizational goals and policies.
  • Lead operational initiatives that improve efficiency, communication, and service delivery across the organization.
  • Monitor operational performance indicators and support development of dashboards and performance tracking systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational workflows, organizational systems, and service coordination.
  • Assist in implementation of process improvement initiatives across administrative and programmatic departments.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership and practice management teams to support efficient clinic operations and patient flow.
  • Assist with initiatives designed to improve patient access to care, scheduling practices, and service coordination.
  • Support operational coordination between clinical programs and community engagement services.
  • Serve as a liaison between operational departments and program leadership to strengthen communication and coordination.
  • Facilitate collaboration between departments to support integrated service delivery.
  • Support operational oversight of organizational infrastructure including:
  • Facilities and safety coordination
  • Information technology support systems
  • Operational technology used to support service delivery
  • Supporting facility planning, maintenance coordination, and workplace safety initiatives.
  • Assisting with operational planning related to infrastructure and organizational resources.
  • Support the organization’s compliance and regulatory readiness activities.
  • Assist with preparation for regulatory reviews, audits, and operational site visits.
  • Ensure operational policies and procedures align with applicable regulatory requirements including HRSA expectations for health centers.
  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of organizational policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Support development of operational guidelines that promote consistency and accountability across departments.
  • Support operational coordination for grant-funded programs.
  • Assist program leadership with monitoring program implementation and performance requirements.
  • Support collection of documentation and operational data needed for grant reporting.

  • Protect patient information and records at all times in compliance with agency confidentiality polies, ACT 148 and HIPAA.
  • Participate in agency meetings, staff in-services, and external trainings as required.
