About The Position

The Director of Operations & Logistics is a senior leadership role responsible for the full operational engine at Kiefer Sage. You will own production, warehousing, and logistics execution, leading a team of 3 direct reports across functions and driving the production efficiency, flow, and culture surrounding everything that moves through our facilities. This is not a role for someone who wants to manage from a distance. We're looking for a hands-on leader who is equally comfortable in a strategy conversation with the VP and walking the production floor with a supervisor. You'll set the standard for how we operate, develop the people under you, and build the systems that let us scale without losing what makes Kiefer Sage special. We're a purpose-built company, and that shows up in operations too. The decisions made in this role connect directly to our ability to serve overlooked and underserved markets.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience considered.
5+ years of progressive experience in operations, Logistics, or manufacturing, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role managing other leaders.
Demonstrated experience owning a department P&L or budget with accountability for results.
Proven track record of building and developing teams, not just managing them.
Deep working knowledge of production planning, inventory management, procurement, and logistics.
Strong ERP proficiency and data-driven approach to decision-making.
Lead with empathy first and hold people accountable with care, not fear.
Make decisions quickly and with confidence and stay humble enough to change course when the data says to.
Communicate clearly up, down, and across, knowing what to bring to leadership and what to handle themselves.
Build trust by doing what they say they'll do, every time.
See the bigger picture without losing track of the details that matter on the floor.

Nice To Haves

CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent Logistics certification.
Lean, Six Sigma, or formal continuous improvement certification.
Experience scaling an operations function in a mid-size or growth-stage manufacturing environment.
Background in import/export, freight management, or multi-site operations.

Responsibilities

Directly manage and develop 3 direct reports, including a Superintendent of Production, a Warehouse Manager, and a Shipping Manger.
Build a high-performance culture grounded in Kiefer Sage's values, where accountability, growth, and continuous improvement are the norm.
Coach, develop, and retain your leaders, creating clear paths for growth within the organization.
Hold regular one-on-ones, team meetings, and performance conversations that keep people aligned, motivated, and moving forward.
Set and execute the operational strategy for production, warehousing, and logistics in alignment with company goals.
Accountable for KPIs involving spend, production efficiency and shipping performance, while driving cost efficiency without sacrificing quality or safety.
Ensure inventory accuracy, optimal stock levels, and effective warehouse operations across all facilities.
Drive logistics strategy including inbound and outbound freight, carrier management, and import/export compliance where applicable.
Define, track, and report on key operational KPIs including on-time delivery, inventory turns, labor cost, throughput, and safety metrics.
Lead lean, kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives that eliminate waste and build long-term operational capability.
Ensure standard operating procedures are current, enforced, and consistently improving across all functions.
Partner with quality and safety teams to maintain compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
Leverage ERP data and reporting to drive decisions and surface insights for senior leadership.
