About The Position

Under the supervision of the Pinecrest Administrator, this role plans, develops, administers, and evaluates the day-to-day clinical care for the residents of Pinecrest, ensuring compliance with the goals and objectives of the Michigan Department of Community Health. The Director of Nursing directs the professional nursing staff who provide clinical health services to the residents, ensuring appropriate medical care and updating care plans as residents' needs change. This position also provides guidance and support to nursing supervisors and Resident Associates. The role requires knowledge of public management techniques in budgeting, personnel administration, and resource management, as well as the ability to identify and implement new best practices. A thorough understanding of nursing and long-term care principles and practices is essential. The ability to assess situations, solve problems, and work effectively under stress, within deadlines, and in emergency situations is also required. Proficiency in office equipment and technology, including Microsoft Suite, Extended Care Pro, and electronic medical record software, is necessary, along with the ability to learn new technologies. The position may require duties outside normal business hours and a 24-hour response to emergencies or service needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or related field.
  • Seven years of progressively more responsible experience in professional or clinical nursing.
  • Supervisory experience in a long-term care facility.
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s license.
  • Registered Nurse with the State of Michigan.
  • Knowledge of the professional public management techniques involved in budgeting, personnel administration, resource management.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing and long-term care.
  • Ability to assess situations, solve problems, work effectively under stress, within deadlines, and in emergency situations.
  • Skill in the use of office equipment and technology, including Microsoft Suite applications, Extended Care Pro, electronic medical record software; and the ability to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to attend to duties scheduled at times other than normal business hours.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies or service needs on a 24-hour basis.
