About The Position

Neurotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a private biotech company located in Cumberland, RI and Needham, MA, within the realm of Greater Boston’s vast biotechnology landscape. Since our inception more than 20 years ago, our focus has been on developing and commercializing transformative therapies for chronic eye diseases. The core platform technology, Encapsulated Cell Therapy (ECT), is a first-in-class drug delivery platform designed to slow the progression of chronic eye diseases. Neurotech’s first commercial product, ENCELTOTM (revakinagene taroretcel-lwey), is approved in the United States for the treatment of adults with idiopathic Macular Telangiectasia Type 2 (MacTel). Encapsulated cell-based gene therapy is designed to provide long-term, sustained delivery of therapeutic proteins for the treatment of chronic eye diseases. The Director of National Accounts is responsible for executing market access strategies to ensure that national/regional, payers, PBMs, and GPO customers provide appropriate patient access to Neurotech’s therapies. This role requires a strategic mindset, collaborative approach and a strong commitment to a culture of ownership, accountability and trust. The Director will lead all activities with assigned national/regional commercial and government payers, managing relationships with senior managed care executives, and leveraging internal subject matter experts to communicate the value of Neurotech’s therapies. The Director will also educate cross-functional teams on payer policies, collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve access challenges, provide field insight to inform access strategies, and engage payer accounts to execute strategic plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area of study
  • 10+ years’ experience in Market Access in the biopharmaceutical/pharmaceutical industry
  • 5+ years’ experience in an account management role with responsibility for national payer and PBM customers
  • Experience negotiating with payers and/or PBMs
  • Expert knowledge of U.S. managed markets including commercial and government payers
  • Demonstrated success in securing appropriate coverage for rare and specialty medicines covered under the medical benefit
  • Excellent collaboration, written, and verbal communications skills
  • Clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge and aptitude in complex disease states
  • Ability to communicate and present to C-Suite leadership.
  • Ability to go beyond contracting and influence clinical policy.
  • Demonstrated negotiating ability.
  • Proven high level business relationships within National and Regional Payers.
  • Highly effective working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, creative environment.
  • Willing to travel up to 50% of the time, valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.

Responsibilities

  • Seamlessly implementing access strategies for assigned national/regional commercial and government payers, as well as PBM and payer GPO customers, to ensure appropriate patient access to Neurotech’s therapies
  • Leading engagements with assigned national/regional commercial and government payers, along with PBM and payer GPO customers, to secure favorable coverage policies ensuring patient access
  • Driving the execution of brand access strategies across teams responsible for regional affiliates and custom clients of national vertically integrated payers, PBM, and GPO PBM customers
  • Maintaining and fostering relationships with senior managed care medical and pharmacy executives by leveraging expert knowledge of the customer’s organizational structure and strategic priorities
  • Leveraging internal resources and subject matter experts (e.g., HEOR, Medical) to effectively communicate the value of Neurotech’s portfolio to national, vertically integrated payers, PBM, and GPO customers
  • Piloting holistic customer strategies to engage all aspects of large vertically integrated national customers
  • Educating internal cross-functional teams on payer coverage policies to enhance strategic planning, execution, and business knowledge
  • Promoting cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders to align strategies and optimize access solutions
  • Collaborating with market access, patient services sales/brand team colleagues, and patient advocacy, to develop strategies and ensure execution against threats and opportunities in their region
  • Engaging national payer accounts to present product value, conduct disease state education for pipeline products, perform pre-approval information exchange (PIE) engagements
  • Providing insights to internal stakeholders (e.g., medical liaisons) on customer-specific priorities to inform access strategy
  • Engaging cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., HEOR) in customer meetings to ensure comprehensive and effective communication
  • Gathering information and creating analyses to enhance the understanding of current and emerging payer market dynamics, risks, and competitive behaviors, with a focus on identifying potential business impacts
