POSITION SUMMARY The Marketing Director stewards the Steamboat brand, ensuring it is clearly positioned as a premier destination resort and distinctly differentiated from key competitors. The role oversees all facets of Steamboat’s marketing ecosystem, including advertising, promotions, merchandising, content marketing, CRM, market research, SEM, website management, strategic partnerships, partner‑resort programs, and the sign shop. This position integrates all brand, product, marketing, and guest‑experience functions, working closely with Sales, Communications, Yield, SLT, and Operations teams to drive aligned business outcomes. The Director monitors results across business units and guest segments to inform brand strategy, guides future campaign development, and optimize overall marketing performance. The role is directly responsible for delivering resort visitation targets and contributes to both primary and ancillary revenue strategies. Additional responsibilities include marketing support for Steamboat Hospitality and oversight of in‑resort experience elements such as signage, décor, music, events, and activations. Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of previous work history/education required
  • Strong verbal, non‑verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills
  • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Company’s Service Excellence standards

Responsibilities

  • Lead Steamboat’s overall brand stewardship, ensuring clear competitive differentiation and adherence to the brand strategy and playbook.
  • Deliver top‑line revenue and resort visitation targets across destination, international, regional, and local markets.
  • Shape enterprise‑level brand and marketing strategy, integrating insights across guest segments, business units, and competitive trends.
  • Guide national advertising strategy, including creative direction, portfolio planning, and performance evaluation across channels.
  • Develop multi‑segment, insight‑driven marketing strategies leveraging diverse audience profiles and market data.
  • Serve as a key member of the Leadership Team, contributing to business performance reporting, strategic planning, and guest‑trend analysis.
  • Lead product and yield strategy in partnership with Alterra Mountain Company, influencing development and cross‑resort marketing initiatives.
  • Direct Steamboat’s research and insights function, including market research, product and audience development, and analysis of new opportunities.
  • Oversee Local Marketing District strategy and represent the resort in district planning and campaign direction.
  • Lead and develop a 16‑member team across advertising, events, website, CRM, analytics, content, media, and product marketing.
  • Oversee all marketing budgets, including advertising, sponsorships, website, CRM, and the sign shop.
  • Manage execution of digital, print, TV, radio, out‑of-home, and emerging‑channel media strategies.
  • Oversee analytics reporting, dashboards, product performance insights, and campaign measurement.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment across all channels and guest touchpoints.
  • Manage in‑resort brand execution including signage, décor, music, events, activations, and printed materials (e.g., the Trail Map).
  • Execute influencer, content, and yield‑based marketing programs locally and with Alterra partners.
  • Lead integration and ongoing optimization of marketing technologies, including the app, e‑commerce platform, digital tools, and project‑management systems.
  • Maintain and grow marketing partnerships, event strategy, database management, and in‑resort design support.
  • Stay current on industry and technology trends to continuously evolve Steamboat’s marketing capabilities.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
