About The Position

The Director of Major Giving is responsible for developing and managing relationships with prospective and current major donors, inspiring significant philanthropic investment in the mission of Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County through strategic engagement, personalized stewardship, and thoughtful solicitation. This position builds authentic, long-term relationships with donors by connecting their passions with opportunities to transform lives through Christ-centered ministry. The Director of Major Giving serves as a trusted advisor to donors while helping advance the Mission's vision of providing hope, healing, and lasting transformation for neighbors experiencing homelessness and poverty.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of successful fundraising with focus on major gifts or major gift officer experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A charismatic and connected Fort Worth native.
  • The friendly face recognized by everyone at community events and soirées alike.
  • The person who always knows who should meet whom.
  • Gifted at making people feel known, valued, and connected.
  • A believer who wants to use their gifts to meet the needs of the “least of these.”
  • Comfortable with a stage and mic or “working a room.”
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and strategically cultivate a portfolio of approximately 100–150 major gift prospects and donors, developing meaningful relationships that inspire long-term partnership and investment in the mission of Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County.
  • Serve as a visible and engaging ambassador for the organization throughout the community, building authentic connections with community leaders, influencers, supporters, and prospective donors.
  • Conduct regular donor meetings, tours, and personal visits both on campus and throughout the community to deepen engagement, strengthen relationships, and uncover opportunities for greater involvement and support.
  • Design and carry out customized relationship strategies that strengthen donor commitment and connect generosity with tangible ministry outcomes.
  • Secure major gifts that advance annual operations, strategic initiatives, capital projects, and campaign objectives.
  • Partner closely with the Chief Development Officer and Development team to identify opportunities, coordinate donor strategies, and achieve fundraising goals.
  • Maintain consistent, personalized communication with donors through visits, calls, correspondence, and other touchpoints that foster trust, connection, and enduring relationships.
  • Provide exceptional stewardship by ensuring donors experience meaningful appreciation, transparent communication, and clear evidence of the impact made possible through their generosity.
  • Share compelling stories of life transformation that illustrate the power of the Gospel and demonstrate how donor support changes lives and strengthens the community.
  • Identify, qualify, and cultivate new major gift prospects through research, referrals, networking, community engagement, and organizational events, building a robust pipeline of future supporters.
  • Maintain accurate donor records, track engagement and portfolio performance, provide reports and forecasts, and actively contribute to departmental planning, fundraising events, and organizational initiatives.
  • Provide best practice and operating proficiencies coaching to Board of Directors, Executive Team, peers, and direct or indirect reports within the mission.
