Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, with demonstrated success in individual and major gift fundraising.
  • Knowledge of annual giving strategy, donor pipeline development, portfolio management, and moves management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of planned giving strategies and experience working with planned giving prospects and donors.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with donors, clinicians, senior leaders, volunteers, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency with donor databases and fundraising technology.
  • Ability to attend occasional evening and weekend donor meetings, events, and other Foundation activities.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the Sisters of Mercy.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare fundraising experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with grateful patient fundraising and clinician engagement strongly preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Blackbaud products preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads Mercy Health Foundation’s individual giving program, with responsibility for annual giving, major gifts, grateful patient and clinician engagement, and planned giving.
  • Develops strategies to grow individual giving, build strong donor relationships, and achieve fundraising goals in support of Mercy’s priorities and campaigns.
  • Manages a portfolio of major and planned gift prospects and donors.
  • Collaborates with Foundation leadership, clinicians, hospital leaders, volunteers, and colleagues to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors.
  • Provides strategic oversight of Mercy’s annual giving program.
  • Supervises a development officer responsible for the day-to-day management and execution of the annual giving program.
