About The Position

This position is located at the Family Express office in Valparaiso, Indiana. This is not a remote position. Position summary: The Director of Information Technology is a position that has ultimate responsibility for managing and directing Information Technology support and technical services. Individual must demonstrate a commitment to personal development, seek “Best Practices” and promote the overall success of the company’s mission. The position is responsible for daily maintenance, operation and support of the company’s IT assets and resources. Participates in evaluating and recommending resources to expand services. Develops and implements effective procedures for network operations, computer support, and internet support, point of sale and telecommunications support. Provides technical assistance in the planning and design of IT systems. Maintains connections with hardware and software suppliers to ensure the timely procurement of technology. Directs assigned IT personnel, coordinates activities with other departments and keeps management well informed. General Purpose: To provide our customers with total satisfaction.   • Must be able to travel daily between all Family Express locations or other non-Family Express locations when necessary.

  • Apply, enforce, and oversee the consistent use of early engagement, counseling and disciplinary actions for all store associates according to Company policy and procedure.
  • Seeks, promotes and implements “Best Practices”
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including servers, PC’s, operating systems, telephone, software applications and peripherals
  • Provide expertise and support during systems upgrades, installations, conversions and file maintenance
  • Oversee systems development and enhancement and the integration of new systems with exiting systems
  • Work with staff to develop strategies and plans to enhance services, improve user effectiveness and foster innovation
  • Communicate regularly with executive management and all users of information services and systems
  • Manage IT staff, including hiring, training, evaluation, guidance, discipline and discharge
  • Develop the IT staff to meet the changing needs of users, groups and offices; new projects and technologies; and varying staff strengths
  • Develop standard operating procedures and best practices, including providing written protocols and guidance to IT staff and to end-users
  • Ensure the creation and maintenance of all written documentation, including system and user manuals, license agreements, and documentation of modifications and upgrades
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services
  • Keep current with the latest technologies and determine what new technology solutions and implementations will meet business and system requirements
  • Manage financial aspects of the IT Division, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision
  • Manage servers, security solutions, network hardware and equipment
  • Manage PCI compliance activities including documentation, auditing, scanning and annual testing procedures
  • Manage telecommunications infrastructure and development plans, projects, policies and procedures
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements
  • Support the Family Express’ overall mission and follow all standards, policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines
  • Acts as company liaison with all hardware and software vendors
  • Responsible for the safety, maintenance and security of IT assets and resources
  • Coordinates Information Technology activities among other departments
