Director of IT

RFNOW Inc.Virden, MB
Hybrid

About The Position

It’s a pivotal moment at RFNOW. We’re building out the fibre networks that bring high-speed internet and telecommunications services to communities across Manitoba and Saskatchewan — and we’re looking for a Director of IT to help shape what that infrastructure looks like for years to come. If you thrive in a high-energy, high-performance environment where you actually get to influence strategy (not just execute someone else’s), where something new gets built every quarter, and where the work matters to real communities — we’d love to talk to you. Reporting to the VP, Network and Field Operations, you’ll own the day-to-day management of our fibre network and infrastructure, plus all technical activities for a fast-growing infrastructure-based telecom. This is hands-on leadership: you’ll direct new service development, network planning and engineering, build-out, operations, and performance assurance. You’ll manage the ICT portfolio that keeps our network reliable and our support services responsive. In short — real ownership of something that matters.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior telecom management role (Director-level or equivalent)
  • Deep hands-on experience with telecom systems — VoIP, data networks, network security, outage management, POP sites, and NOCs
  • Strong grasp of telecom regulations, compliance, and security standards
  • A track record of leading and growing technical teams
  • Strong project management chops with successful deliveries to point to
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving instincts
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — comfortable influencing at every level
  • Solid budget and financial planning experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Relevant certifications such as CISCO, CTNS, CISSP, or PMP

Responsibilities

  • Bring our telecom strategy to life in alignment with organizational goals
  • Stay ahead of the curve on industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Manage the technology services budget — capital and operational — for cost-effective outcomes
  • Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of phones, servers, internet, network security, and voice/data systems
  • Keep the network reliable, secure, and scalable as we grow
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, SLAs, and performance metrics
  • Lead a team of technology professionals — technicians and support staff
  • Coach, develop, and grow the people around you
  • Build a collaborative, innovative culture
  • Run telecom projects end-to-end — on time, on scope, on budget
  • Manage resources, timelines, and stakeholder communication
  • Ensure systems and practices meet regulatory and industry standards
  • Implement and enforce security measures that protect our infrastructure
  • Monitor performance and service metrics; turn data into improvements
  • Develop policies and procedures that keep operations humming
  • Partner with other departments and senior leadership to understand needs and build solutions
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders — updates, concerns, feedback

Benefits

  • A competitive salary package
  • An incredible work environment with real career advancement opportunities
  • The chance to lead technical strategy at a company actively expanding its footprint
