About The Position

Compassion & Choices is seeking a Director of Integrated Technology. The Director of Integrated Technology provides strategic leadership for Compassion & Choices’ enterprise technology vision, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud services, and technology governance. Reporting to the Principal Director, Operations, this position develops and implements technology strategies that strengthen organizational effectiveness, improve collaboration, enhance security, and support mission-driven innovation. This position helps build a culture where technology and innovation are accessible and embraced, connecting the needs of an active national movement to the technologies that enable scale and success. The Director oversees enterprise architecture, technology roadmaps, IT operations, artificial intelligence governance, vendor partnerships, infrastructure modernization, and technology service delivery while ensuring staff and volunteers have secure, reliable, and scalable technology solutions that support the organization’s advocacy, education, fundraising, and operational priorities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Eight to twelve years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, or technology operations.
• Three to five years of experience managing technology teams and leading enterprise-level technology initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience developing enterprise technology strategies, digital transformation roadmaps, and technology governance frameworks.
• Experience leading cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity programs, enterprise software implementations, systems integrations, or technology modernization initiatives.
• Demonstrated success managing technology vendors, contracts, software licensing, budgets, and resource planning.
• Experience supporting remote or geographically distributed teams.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences. Ability to prepare executive reports, technology roadmaps, governance policies, strategic recommendations, presentations, and organizational communications.
• Ability to analyze technology budgets, vendor costs, infrastructure performance, security reports, project results, system utilization, and organizational performance data.
• Exceptional analytical, strategic-thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to assess organizational risks, develop scalable solutions, prioritize competing initiatives, and make sound decisions in a complex technology environment.
• Ability to lead staff, vendors, consultants, and cross-functional teams while building trusted relationships across the organization.
• Ability to guide employees through technology implementations and organizational changes while supporting adoption and addressing resistance or uncertainty.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technology projects, manage multiple priorities, coordinate stakeholders, and deliver initiatives within established scope, timelines, and budgets.
• Advanced knowledge of or experience working with: Enterprise cloud technologies, Cybersecurity and endpoint-protection platforms, Artificial intelligence and automation tools, Mobile-device management, Identity and access management, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, Project-management platforms such as Asana, Virtual meeting and collaboration platforms such as Zoom and Slack, Mobile and voice-over-internet phone systems, Nonprofit board-management platforms, Legal case-management systems, Legislative and policy platforms, Legal and policy research tools, Volunteer-management platforms.
• The Google Cybersecurity Certificate is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the organization’s enterprise technology strategy, including long-term technology planning, roadmap development, enterprise architecture, and infrastructure modernization.
• Align technology investments, systems, and initiatives with organizational priorities, operational needs, and mission impact.
• Serve as a strategic technology partner to organizational leadership by translating technical needs, opportunities, and risks into clear recommendations.
• Establish technology governance frameworks, technical standards, policies, and decision-making processes that support secure and sustainable organizational growth.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend investments that improve efficiency, accessibility, collaboration, and organizational effectiveness.
• Identify and manage technology-related project dependencies across departments and help ensure appropriate follow-through and accountability.
• Lead enterprise cybersecurity, information security, data protection, identity and access management, and technology risk-management efforts.
• Establish, maintain, and enforce security policies, incident-response plans, compliance protocols, and disaster-recovery and business-continuity procedures.
• Oversee cloud infrastructure, single sign-on, authentication standards, access controls, endpoint security, and other protections for organizational systems and data.
• Safeguard sensitive donor, volunteer, constituent, employee, and organizational information.
• Build a strong but supportive security culture by providing staff with clear, accessible guidance and training.
• Monitor cybersecurity risks and ensure appropriate response, documentation, and follow-up.
• Direct enterprise technology initiatives, including software selections, systems implementations, data migrations, platform upgrades, integrations, and digital transformation projects.
• Partner with departments to gather requirements, assess workflows, and implement technology solutions that reduce operational barriers and improve productivity.
• Oversee enterprise technology operations and ensure organizational platforms are reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned with user needs.
• Guide the modernization of technology infrastructure supporting a distributed and fully remote workforce.
• Establish performance standards and processes for technology service delivery, technical support, system documentation, and self-service resources.
• Monitor organizational technology performance and recommend improvements based on user needs, system data, and emerging best practices.
• Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for the responsible use of artificial intelligence and automation across the organization.
• Establish organizational policies, ethical frameworks, privacy standards, and security safeguards for AI use.
• Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to improve operational efficiency and reduce unnecessary administrative work.
• Lead the evaluation, risk assessment, piloting, and implementation of third-party AI tools and related technologies.
• Develop training and resources that help staff use AI tools safely, responsibly, and effectively.
• Monitor emerging AI standards, risks, and regulatory developments that may affect organizational operations.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of the organization’s technology platforms, software licenses, contracts, accounts, and digital assets.
• Manage technology vendors, consultants, and external service providers while monitoring performance, cost, security, and organizational value.
• Negotiate and administer software and technology agreements.
• Develop and manage technology budgets, resource plans, and recommendations for future investments.
• Evaluate software usage and licensing to improve cost-effectiveness and return on investment.
• Ensure organizational accounts, administrative ownership, licenses, and digital assets are structured to reduce risk during staff transitions.
• Directly supervise, coach, and support the Senior Systems Administrator.
• Establish clear performance expectations and service standards for the technology function.
• Ensure staff receive timely, respectful, and effective technical support.
• Oversee technology ticketing systems, documentation, standard operating procedures, knowledge resources, and staff training.
• Support staff adoption of new technologies and organizational systems through effective change management.
• Foster a collaborative technology culture focused on innovation, accessibility, security, learning, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in organizational planning, staff meetings, trainings, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Support Compassion & Choices’ fundraising and mission-related activities as requested.
• Complete required reports and administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.
• Travel as required for organizational retreats, meetings, conferences, technology implementations, and vendor engagements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Directly supervises the Senior Systems Administrator. This position is responsible for hiring, onboarding, coaching, mentoring, workload planning, performance management, professional development, succession planning, and performance evaluations.
• Provides strategic leadership for enterprise technology initiatives and coordinates the work of vendors, consultants, and cross-functional project teams.
