About The Position

National Business Capital is expanding its institutional footprint and seeking a market-facing Director of Institutional Partnerships. This executive-level role drives business development across lower-to-middle-market commercial banking, private credit, private equity, investment banking, and financial advisory channels, targeting companies with $2 million to $100 million or more in annual revenue. The Director will use capital markets expertise and referral-partner relationships to position National Business Capital as a capital solutions partner. The role focuses on filling liquidity gaps, providing bridge capital, and structuring flexible non-bank debt solutions when traditional lenders fall short. Success is measured by the strength and quality of relationships, the consistency of qualified institutional deal flow, and contributions to National's growth in complex transactions. This high-visibility role offers an opportunity to shape channel strategy, deepen institutional credibility, and create long-term value for the company and its partners.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in commercial lending or private credit, focused on lower-to-middle-market banking, investment banking, private equity, M&A advisory, debt advisory, asset-based lending, equipment finance, or a related partner-facing origination role.
  • Established relationships across lower-middle-market or middle-market financial sponsors, advisory firms, or capital markets professionals.
  • Deep understanding of financial markets and alternative financing.
  • Strong understanding of capital gaps in sponsor-backed, founder-led, and transitional business situations.
  • Ability to recognize where flexible credit, non-bank financing, bridge capital, or subordinated debt can complement broader capital structures.
  • Executive presence and communication skills appropriate for senior financial stakeholders.
  • Self-directed, commercially minded, and comfortable building in a growth-stage channel environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and expand relationships with investment bankers, private equity professionals, independent sponsors, capital advisors, M&A advisors, and related referral partners.
  • Oversee the full deal lifecycle and generate qualified opportunities involving acquisition financing, bridge capital, subordinated debt, growth capital, recapitalizations, and other needs suited to flexible non-bank capital.
  • Identify where National Business Capital can add value within broader deal structures, particularly when transactions involve collateral shortfalls, liquidity gaps, timing constraints, or credit situations outside traditional lenders' scope.
  • Partner with underwriting and other internal teams to support clear and professional partner relationships.
  • Share market intelligence, including deal activity, capital gaps, and lender behavior, to inform the company's institutional positioning and strategy.
  • Independently develop and manage a robust opportunity pipeline and consistently meet funding targets and goals.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to shape channel strategy and lead high-visibility growth initiatives.
  • Collaborative team of industry experts committed to shared success and professional development.
  • Uncapped commissions.
