About The Position

National Business Capital is seeking a market-facing Director of Institutional Partnerships to expand its institutional footprint and drive business development through lower-to-middle-market commercial banking, private credit, private equity, investment banking, and financial advisory channels. The role focuses on companies with $2 million to $100 million or more in annual revenue. The Director will use capital markets expertise and referral relationships to position National as a capital solutions partner, filling liquidity gaps and providing bridge capital and flexible non-bank debt solutions when traditional lenders cannot meet a borrower’s needs. The position is responsible for developing institutional relationships, sourcing and structuring transactions, aligning with internal underwriting and executive teams, tracking market intelligence, and managing a deal pipeline against origination and funding targets. Success is measured by strong partner engagement, sustained institutional deal origination, and strengthening National’s reputation as a capital partner for complex corporate transactions. This is a full-time remote role focused on primary markets. The salary range is $125,000–$180,000 annually, plus uncapped commissions.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of relevant experience in commercial lending, private credit, investment banking, asset-based lending, or financial sponsor coverage focused on lower-to-middle-market companies.
  • Active relationships across middle-market financial sponsors, advisory firms, private equity networks, and corporate intermediaries.
  • Deep knowledge of alternative debt structures, credit analysis, and complex transaction mechanics for sponsor-backed, founder-led, or transitional businesses.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and executive communication skills, including demonstrated ability to negotiate and build consensus with C-suite executives and financial partners.
  • Self-directed origination mindset and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate, expand, and manage strategic relationships with investment bankers, private equity and independent sponsors, M&A advisors, capital brokers, and family offices.
  • Originate and source opportunities throughout the transaction lifecycle, including acquisition financing, subordinated debt, growth capital, bridge loans, and recapitalizations.
  • Identify transaction capital gaps, such as collateral shortfalls, timing constraints, and financing outside traditional bank criteria, and position National’s capital options within broader transaction structures.
  • Partner with underwriting, risk, and executive leadership teams to support deal execution, market communication, and partner support.
  • Gather intelligence on private credit trends, lender behavior, and market shifts to inform channel strategy and maintain National’s competitive position.
  • Build, maintain, and manage a deal pipeline to meet or exceed annual origination and funding targets.

Benefits

  • Uncapped commissions.
  • Opportunity to shape channel strategy and lead high-visibility growth initiatives.
  • Collaborative team environment with industry experts committed to shared success and professional development.
