About The Position

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading all aspects of the HR function, including employee relations, compliance, benefits, performance management, leadership development, and HR systems. This role partners closely with executive leadership, field operators, and managers to strengthen culture, mitigate risk, and support sustainable growth.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of HR Director experience
  • Strong working knowledge of multi‑state employment law and compliance
  • Demonstrated experience balancing strategic leadership with hands‑on execution
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with executives and operational leaders
  • Excellent judgment, communication, and relationship‑building skills
  • Experience leading employee relations in fast‑paced, people‑intensive environments
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Focus on quality of work at all times
  • Advanced knowledge of employment law and HR functions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including group presentations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Hospitality, retail, or multi‑unit operations strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted HR advisor to senior leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, and people strategy
  • Translate business objectives into clear HR priorities, programs, and policies
  • Support leadership development and succession planning across restaurant and corporate teams
  • Lead employee relations strategy, investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
  • Ensure consistent, fair, and compliant application of policies across locations
  • Proactively identify and mitigate workplace risks in partnership with operations and leadership
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states
  • Oversee audits, E‑Verify, wage & hour compliance, and required HR reporting
  • Maintain employee handbook, policies, and training aligned with evolving regulations
  • Oversee performance management processes, including reviews, manager training, and accountability
  • Support recruiting strategy for leadership and hard‑to‑fill roles in partnership with operations
  • Drive engagement, retention, and development initiatives
  • Oversee benefits strategy, renewals, and employee communications
  • Partner with leadership on compensation planning, wage strategy, and market benchmarking
  • Ensure programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with company culture
  • Lead HRIS and workforce system optimization (HR, payroll, timekeeping, onboarding, etc.)
  • Ensure accurate data, reporting, and process efficiency
  • Develop and improve scalable HR processes as the organization grows
