About The Position

Covista is seeking a Director of HR Communications and Colleague Engagement who is a strategist, builder, and doer. This role involves leading HR communications strategy, building an engagement strategy to strengthen culture, strengthening the employer brand both internally and externally, and acting as a trusted partner and leader within the team. The position is based in one of Covista's offices and operates within a corporate affairs model. The ideal candidate will be passionate about communications that inspire, connect, and drive behavior change, and will thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, high-performing team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, media relations, journalism required.
  • 10+ years of experience in HR communications, employee engagement, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in AI tools and eagerness to explore emerging technology for communications.
  • Fluency with digital platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, and Glassdoor, and understanding of their strategic use for external and internal audiences.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to turn HR policies into engaging narratives.
  • Strategic thinking with a bias for action; ability to see the big picture and connect details.
  • A builder's mindset, comfortable with ambiguity and energized by defining 'great'.
  • Collaborative spirit, ability to work with cross-functional partners and influence without authority.
  • A sense of humor and humanity, communicating with warmth and empathy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and evolve the HR communications strategy, owning the vision for how HR communicates across the enterprise.
  • Continuously evolve the communication approach to ensure messages are understood and acted upon.
  • Lead and coach the Manager of HR Communications to deliver high-quality, clear, and impactful day-to-day communications.
  • Build an engagement strategy to foster collaboration, belonging, and energy, partnering with HR.
  • Serve as a primary communications partner to Office Managing Leaders (OMLs), equipping them with timely, consistent messaging for everyday and high-stakes moments.
  • Create a flexible menu of activation tools for OMLs and local culture committees to tailor and implement engagement strategies.
  • Strengthen the employer brand by bringing the employee value proposition (EVP) and purpose, vision, and values (PVV) to life through integrated communications for internal and external audiences.
  • Partner closely with Brand and HR to align messaging, elevate presence, and support key employer brand initiatives.
  • Contribute to key digital channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, Glassdoor) for external brand building and internal engagement.
  • Serve as a key thought partner to the Senior Director of Strategy and Internal Communications, providing leadership, continuity, and support.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
