The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for managing the activities of the Housekeeping Department to ensure that hotel facilities, guest rooms, and public areas meet the hotel's standards. This role involves planning and organizing cleaning, providing daily assignments, ensuring staff are trained, conducting inspections, managing lost and found, responding to guest concerns, and maintaining health and sanitation standards. The Director also manages departmental payroll and expenses to meet operating budgets, establishes departmental policies, participates in MOD shifts, monitors supply inventories, determines staffing levels, and utilizes property procedures for guest calls and maintenance projects. Fostering open communication with internal departments, attending meetings, promoting a positive work environment, and maintaining departmental organization are also key aspects of the role. This position involves monitoring and responding to guest satisfaction surveys and addressing guest complaints, while also analyzing areas for improvement and encouraging problem-solving. Recruiting, training, coaching, and providing performance feedback to housekeeping staff are essential duties, along with ensuring compliance with company policies, safety practices, and regulatory guidelines like OSHA.
