About The Position

The Director of Housekeeping will be responsible for the management and day-to-day operations for the Housekeeping department. This role is responsible for the long-term vision and direction, including improvements and projects. The Director will conduct regular inspections of the hotel to ensure adherence to cleanliness and maintenance standards, and coordinate department activities with other departments to facilitate increased levels of communication and guest satisfaction. Ensuring all equipment is maintained and used accordingly, meeting all service and production standards for Pendry, and being responsible for overall financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning of the department are key aspects of this role. The Director will also bear ultimate responsibility for monitoring consumption and ordering replacement of guest and cleaning supplies, maintaining effective cost control through systems and processes, and managing the selection, training, and development of employees with an eye toward maximum employee satisfaction, productivity, and guest satisfaction. This includes hiring, training, supervising, and developing colleagues for maximum effectiveness, providing seamless employee relations with contract employees, ensuring proper training and culture integration, and establishing safe working conditions through appropriate training. Creating appropriate relationships with all levels of hotel Associates is also essential.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Five (5) plus years’ experience in housekeeping within a luxury hotel.
  • Must have Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to supervise subordinate staff, including, but not limited to, assignment of duties, evaluating service, and taking disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze data, figures and transcriptions prepared on and generated by computer.
  • Knowledge of hotel housekeeping operations.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Budgetary analysis capabilities required.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping service techniques and cost controls such as manpower, productivity and other expenses.
