About The Position

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Director of Fleet Operations to lead and optimize our transportation strategy, safety standards, and fleet performance across the organization. As the Director of Fleet Operations, you will be responsible for the strategic oversight and day-to-day management of our vehicle fleet across the U.S. and Canada. You will ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective transportation operations while driving continuous improvement across all fleet-related processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in fleet management, transportation, or logistics operations
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and Canadian transportation regulations
  • Experience managing large, multi-site fleets (preferably in a service-based or regulated industry)
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, vendors, and complex operations
  • Demonstrated experience managing fleet-related costs and expenses, including fuel programs (e.g., gas cards), expense controls, and asset utilization strategies
  • Experience implementing efficient vehicle storage, parking, or lay-up strategies to reduce cost and maintain fleet readiness
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using fleet management systems and data reporting tools
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to travel as needed across North America

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fleet management strategy aligned with organizational goals
  • Oversee all fleet operations including vehicle acquisition, maintenance, utilization, and disposal
  • Ensure full compliance with all federal, state/provincial, and local transportation regulations
  • Lead and manage vendor relationships including leasing companies, maintenance providers, and insurance partners
  • Implement and monitor fleet safety programs, including driver training, incident tracking, and risk mitigation
  • Analyze fleet performance metrics (cost, utilization, fuel efficiency, downtime) and drive data-informed decisions
  • Develop and manage the fleet budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies
  • Oversee fuel and operating expense programs, including gas card management, usage tracking, fraud prevention, and cost optimization initiatives
  • Establish and manage efficient vehicle storage solutions when fleet assets are not in use, ensuring cost control, security, and asset preservation
  • Partner with regional and center leadership to ensure transportation needs are met effectively
  • Oversee fleet technology solutions (telematics, GPS tracking, maintenance systems) to improve visibility and performance
