About The Position

Catholic Charities Fort Worth (CCFW) is seeking an analytical, forward-thinking Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to help shape the organization's future through long-range planning, forecasting, scenario modeling, and decision support. Reporting to the CFO, the director will help ensure organizational resources are aligned with mission impact and long-term sustainability. This hands-on leadership role partners with the CFO, Executive Leadership Team, program leaders, the Controller, the Finance Systems & Process Manager, and other data owners. The director owns a collaborative, driver-based Annual Operating Plan and maintains rolling forecasts and decision scenarios. The role develops program and department analyses of revenue, costs, staffing, capacity, funding, and sustainability; leads performance and variance reporting; and turns complex financial information into clear recommendations for executives and nonfinancial leaders. The director also supports major initiative and investment decisions and provides analysis for Finance Committee, Board, Endowment, and executive discussions as requested by the CFO. This is a full-time, salaried position requiring on-site work four days a week in Fort Worth, Texas. CCFW is a mission-driven agency focused on ending poverty in its community through programs addressing financial resiliency, education credentials, emotional resiliency, resource stability, and employment. Employees and service recipients are not required to be Catholic.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive finance experience, with substantial responsibility for FP&A, forecasting, financial modeling, and executive decision support.
  • Advanced financial modeling and spreadsheet capability.
  • Strong analytical judgment and experience translating data into clear dashboards and executive-level recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence, including the ability to partner with nonfinancial leaders, explain complex financial concepts without jargon, and surface difficult information constructively.
  • Ability to work on-site four days a week in Fort Worth, Texas.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or comparable advanced credential.
  • Director-level or equivalent scope of experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading driver-based annual planning, rolling forecasts, scenario analysis, program or business-unit economics, and performance reporting in a complex organization.
  • Experience in nonprofit, human services, healthcare, education, government-funded, or another multi-funder environment.
  • Familiarity with restricted funding, grants, reimbursement models, and shared-cost allocations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a collaborative, driver-based Annual Operating Plan process that links strategy, program priorities, staffing, funding assumptions, service capacity, and expected mission outcomes.
  • Maintain the AOP as a living management plan, with clear assumptions, owners, milestones, and decision points as results and external conditions change.
  • Translate the AOP into program and department expectations, resource guardrails, and performance measures.
  • Partner with the Controller and designated Accountants to base planning on reliable actuals and reflect grant restrictions, reimbursement timing, and other funding realities.
  • Maintain the planning calendar, templates, assumptions, and version control for a repeatable organization-wide process.
  • Maintain rolling forecasts for revenue, expenses, staffing, program volume, funding, and cash implications.
  • Build scenarios for funding changes, grant renewals, staffing actions, program demand, capacity shifts, service-model changes, and other significant operating decisions.
  • Identify emerging gaps, opportunities, and early-warning indicators; distinguish timing issues from structural performance issues.
  • Model alternative choices and communicate assumptions, sensitivities, risks, and tradeoffs to the CFO and operating leaders.
  • Support forward-looking analysis for enterprise sustainability, liquidity planning, and resource allocation without duplicating the CFO's governance responsibilities.
  • Develop consistent program and department views of revenue, full cost, staffing, capacity, funding sources and restrictions, and long-term financial sustainability.
  • Analyze program economics using reliable accounting data and agreed allocation methods, distinguishing controllable operating performance from shared-cost allocations.
  • Partner with program leaders to understand cost drivers, service-volume assumptions, labor utilization, reimbursement, grant coverage, and funding concentration or renewal risks.
  • Help leaders assess whether programs should be protected, redesigned, expanded, partnered, scaled differently, or reconsidered based on mission impact, demand, capacity, and financial sustainability.
  • Build models showing the full cost and resource requirements of new initiatives and growth opportunities before commitments are made.
  • Maintain decision-ready dashboards connecting financial performance with operating drivers, service capacity, funding health, and measurable mission outcomes.
  • Lead monthly and quarterly variance analysis against the AOP and current forecast, explaining root causes.
  • Translate complex financial information into concise, accessible narratives for executives, program leaders, and other nonfinancial audiences.
  • Establish consistent KPI definitions, reporting logic, and performance thresholds with the Finance Systems & Process Manager and other data owners.
  • Surface performance trends, funding risks, and forecast changes early enough for leaders to act.
  • Serve as a financial thought partner to the CFO, Executive Leadership Team, and program leaders on resources, corrective actions, staffing, investment, and program decisions.
  • Frame decisions with alternatives, financial implications, mission considerations, risks, and recommended actions; constructively challenge unsupported assumptions.
  • Develop business cases and investment analyses for major initiatives, funding opportunities, service-model changes, and capacity decisions.
  • Provide analysis and supporting materials for Finance Committee, Board, Endowment, and executive discussions as requested by the CFO.
  • Build financial fluency across CCFW by helping leaders understand the economics they can control or influence and the decisions needed to stay aligned with the AOP.
