About The Position

Responsible for decision support and revenue integrity of the Health System. Functions as a strategic business counselor to all levels of management as well as a steward of sound internal controls and Health System resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related financial field
  • Minimum of fifteen years’ progressive experience in hospital/health care or public accounting.
  • At least ten years of management experience.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to maintain favorable relations with internal and external representatives or organizations.
  • Must be a self-starter, and able to effectively deal with uncertainty and complex situations.
  • Demonstrated track record of mentoring teams resulting in higher levels of job satisfaction and performance.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and relevant healthcare financial systems/software.
  • Ability to operate in an office environment, and cope with stressful situations.
  • Ability to remain organized and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to listen, synthesize, and form action plans based on discussions.
  • Ability to focus on results and desired outcomes and how best to achieve them.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs, conditions and work demands.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with coworkers, peers and among team members.
  • Ability to establish performance standards, appraise staff accomplishments and needs for improvement and take action to reward, counsel, develop or promote/terminate employees as appropriate.

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the preparation of Financial Forecasts, Cost Accounting, Productivity, Management Reporting, and Capital Planning.
  • Leads the development of assumptions, overall preparation and analysis of the annual operating budgets for Health System affiliates and the Consolidated Budget.
  • Performs, directs, and/or reviews financial analyses and pro forma analyses as requested by members of the senior management team and/or the Board of Directors.
  • Provides input and direction in the development and implementation of processes and technology to provide, monitor, and enhance information for decision making in a timely manner; in this regard, maximize the use of technology to improve performance.
  • Oversees Charge Capture.
  • Maintains Charge Masters on a compliant basis and responsible for Establishing and Maintaining Prices.
  • Ensures Accurate and Timely Preparation and Submission of all Governmental Cost Reports.
  • Analyzes Changes in Reimbursement to determine impact to the financials.
  • Oversees plan to test IT implementations, upgrades and patches impacting the Revenue Cycle.
  • Support CFO with the three investment portfolios – operating, Foundation and MJE Pension.
  • Assist CFO with maintenance of new issuances for long-term, publicly traded, tax-exempt debt.
  • Staff Investment Committee of Methodist Health System Board of Directors.
  • Staff and participate in the Participant Directed Investment Committee with the fund selection for qualified and non-qualified retirement plans.
  • Work collaboratively with investment and fiscal advisors.
  • The employee may be required to perform other related duties assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
