About The Position

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director of Finance provides strategic leadership for financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and risk management, ensuring compliance with regulatory and funding requirements and supports evidence-based decision-making in alignment with the mission and values of Threshold Housing Society. The role also leads payroll oversight and supports the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of payroll operations, while overseeing benefits administration to ensure compliance and a positive employee experience. In addition, the Director oversees IT systems to ensure they are secure, efficient, and aligned with organizational needs. The Director is also responsible for developing and enhancing finance, payroll, and related policies and processes to strengthen governance, internal controls, and operational consistency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required or strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, including senior leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing complex payroll environments.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing financial operations, budgeting, audits, and compliance within a non-profit or public sector environment.
  • Proven experience presenting financial information to senior leadership, Boards, or Finance Committees.
  • Experience managing and developing teams, including direct supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Up-to-date membership in a relevant professional association or society.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and professional development.
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check completed by and satisfactory to Threshold, and subject to regular review.
  • Sign and abide by Threshold’s Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Health & Safety Manual.
  • Follow Threshold Housing Society’s policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • PCP or CPM considered an asset.
  • Experience working with government or funded programs, including reporting and compliance requirements, considered an asset.
