About The Position

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director of Finance is responsible for the overall financial management of the hotel, ensuring compliance with internal controls, managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and supporting the General Manager and Regional Director of Finance in safeguarding the hotel’s assets and financial integrity; creating and executing a business plan that is aligned with the property and brand’s business strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years’ experience in finance or accounting
  • Hotel finance/accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced, multi-unit hospitality (food & beverage or hotel) environment preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to generate enthusiasm and speak knowledgeably about financial planning, systems administration, and hotel accounting best practices.
  • Experience in working with Profit Sword (or other Budgeting and Planning enterprise-level software) and Enterprise Resource Planning/Accounting platforms strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing financial forecasting, budgets, cash flow forecasting and the preparation of financial reporting and analysis.
  • Confident, proactive, and positive attitude; energetic and cooperative team player; eager to contribute and improve efficiency.
  • Dedicated to coaching and developing team members.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in hotel management systems, Microsoft Office Suite and OPERA cloud.
  • Available and willing to work flexible hours based on business needs including weekdays and weekends.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must know how to prioritize, delegate, and respond in a timely fashion.
  • Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while maintaining hospitality.

Responsibilities

  • Review and sign off on all financial statements, forecasts, cash flows and balance sheets.
  • Review balance sheet accounts, ensuring adequate support and documentation for all accounts. Creates plans and timelines to correct any deficiencies.
  • Ensures P&L accuracy and timeliness through adequate accounting workflow planning, effective close management, and optimization of checklists and documentation tools.
  • Produces accurate forecasts that enable operations to react to changes in the business.
  • Creates the annual operating budget for the property.
  • Provides analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost saving and productivity opportunities for property managers.
  • Manages property working capital and cash flow in accordance with brand SOPs and owner requirements.
  • Ensure property compliance with USALI, GAAP and Company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure satisfaction of legal requirements and contractual obligations (including obligations under a management agreement) utilizing internal controls, auditing, and security procedures to ensure deviations are brought to the attention of the General Manager and Vice President - Accounting.
  • Ensure hotels' compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes.
  • Primary involvement in tax audits and internal/external audits and assist in coordinating the responses to governmental agencies when necessary.
  • Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example.
  • Collaborate with Regional Directors of Finance and the Vice President - Accounting to ensure effective coordination of activities and discussion of best practices.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all finance division related matters, specifically ensuring implementation and adherence to SOPs, training manuals, systems, and service standards and guidelines.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports to develop their full potential; establish clear expectations that will allow them to achieve success in their role; provide them with the necessary tools and training for growth; approach people performance needs by understanding individual needs and barriers.
  • Actively assist in recruiting, reviewing, recommending prospective team members like Assistant Director of Finance, Accounting Managers, and other finance team members for the organization.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
