About The Position

Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm is an independently owned hospitality destination in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, New Mexico, with operations spanning lodging, dining, wellness, retail, manufacturing, and agriculture. The Director of Finance & Accounting joins the Executive Leadership Team and leads accounting operations while helping guide financial decisions and develop financial systems, reporting, and processes across the organization. The role works closely with the Executive Director/Managing Partner, family board, and operating leaders. It offers an orderly leadership transition as the current Director of Finance plans to retire. Experienced Directors of Finance, as well as Controllers, Assistant Directors of Finance, and Directors of Accounting ready for broader financial leadership, are welcome to apply.

The role leads the accounting function, including close processes, financial statements, reconciliations, accounts payable, payroll oversight, internal controls, and accounting-team performance. It oversees accounting across multiple businesses and legal entities, supports budgeting and financial planning, and provides practical financial insight for hospitality operations, manufacturing, retail, capital improvements, and long-term stewardship decisions. The position also improves accounting systems, workflows, reporting, and information flow between business systems, and coordinates with HR in administering the 401(k) plan while overseeing 401(k) and workers’ compensation audits.

Requirements

• Substantial progressive accounting experience, including hands-on responsibility for general ledger accounting, financial statements, monthly and annual close, internal controls, and accounting-team leadership.
• Experience with budgeting and financial analysis, and collaborating with operating leaders to understand and improve business performance.
• Experience managing accounting operations in a business with multiple departments or revenue streams.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating strong technical accounting expertise.
• Strong accounting judgment and a hands-on, collaborative leadership style.
• Ability to work effectively with department leaders and interest in understanding business operations.
• Clear communication, initiative, adaptability, and an appreciation for the mission and stewardship of Los Poblanos.

Nice To Haves

• Hotel or resort accounting experience, particularly in full-service hospitality.
• Inventory, manufacturing, retail, or cost accounting experience.
• Experience in privately held or family-owned businesses.
• CPA or comparable professional qualification.
• Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise.
• A practical, continuous-improvement mindset and interest in evolving systems, streamlining processes, and strengthening financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations, including monthly and annual close, financial statements, reconciliations, accounts payable, payroll oversight, internal controls, and accounting-team performance.
• Oversee accounting across multiple businesses and legal entities, including inventory, product costing, intercompany activity, and cash management.
• Coordinate with external CPA and tax advisors on financial reporting and compliance.
• Partner with the Executive Director, General Manager, family board, and department leaders on budgeting, forecasting, cash planning, and operating-performance analysis.
• Provide practical financial insight for hospitality operations, manufacturing, retail, capital improvements, and long-term stewardship decisions.
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting systems, workflows, reporting, and the flow of financial information between business systems.
• Coordinate with HR in administering the 401(k) plan and oversee 401(k) and workers’ compensation audits.
