About The Position

The Director of Finance is responsible for leading and managing the Finance, Accounting, and Grant Writing functions including supervision of staff, and assisting the CEO in Strategic and Operational initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Accounting or Finance
  • 5 plus years of experience in non-profit organization preferred
  • 5 plus years of experience in supervisory and senior management roles
  • Sage Intacct, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams), Solver and Paycom

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in accounting or finance, Preferred.
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct guidance and supervision to Financial Controller, Financial Planning Manager and Grant Writer/Coordinator.
  • Is part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) collaborating and supporting the Pillars and functions.
  • Oversees and leads Finance General Ledger pre and post close meetings with team including review of various monthly reports to ensure all transactions have been booked and the various reports correctly reflects the financial position of the organization, pillars, and programs.
  • Oversees and leads monthly financial review meetings including Revenue/Billing, pillar financial statements, initiatives, and issues with respective Directors.
  • Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements programs and functional Directors and Managers, and Finance Committee/Board of Directors.
  • Monitors and/or performs checks and balances and other internal checks and control procedures.
  • Responsible for reviewing and managing all legal contracts with Vendors and Contractors.
  • Responsible for ensuring all necessary finance and accounting policies and practices are documented and updated when necessary; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure and desk/functional reference manuals.
  • Work closely and transparently with all external partners including Grantors, Funders, Contractors, third-party Vendors and consultants.
  • In conjunction with the Financial Planning Manager, oversees annual operating and capital planning process including Pillars, Programs, Function and related departmental budgets for completion, review and approval by Finance Committee/Board of Directors.
  • In conjunction with the Financial Controller, oversees external audits, ensuring work papers are provided to auditors in collaboration with internal audit function.
  • In conjunction with the Financial Controller, manage organizational cash flow and forecasting
  • Ensures completeness and accuracy of recording information in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Provides information for use in preparation of regular and special financing reporting to funding sources.
  • Reviews all contracts with vendors, partner and agencies to ensure all terms including legal and financial are in the best interest of the Organization.
  • Works collaboratively with staff members on accomplishment of Strategic and Operational Objectives and initiatives related to the Finance, Accounting and Grant Writing functions.
  • Performs duties according to Pioneer Center policies, rules and regulations, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to Pioneer Center's Code of Ethics.
  • Reviews and manages grant writing function including Applications, submission, tracking and reporting.
  • Ensures delivery of support to pillars/programs and administrative functions and maintains consistency and quality of financial operations.
  • Performs all other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the CEO.
