About The Position

Sage Hospitality Group is seeking a Dual Director of Finance to oversee the financial operations for two properties: the Hilton Garden Inn Union Station and the Hotel Indigo Downtown Denver. This role is crucial for leading financial strategy, ensuring accurate reporting, and implementing internal controls to safeguard assets and comply with regulations. The ideal candidate will be an independent thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit, committed to personal and professional growth within the company.

Requirements

  • A four-year college degree (accounting preferred) or equivalent education/experience.
  • Five to ten years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s).
  • Knowledge of all hotel accounting functions performed by subordinates.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting, finance, and the hospitality professions.
  • Ability to analyze activities or information involving original data manipulation or interpretation to arrive at logical conclusions.
  • Experience in Office Management.
  • Experience in Bank Reconciliations.
  • Experience in Preparation of State and Federal Reports.
  • Experience in Training of Accounting staff employees.
  • Experience in Conducting or participating in meetings.
  • Experience in Analysis of Balance Sheet Accounts.
  • Experience in Preparation of Journal entries.
  • Experience in closing the books and preparing the Balance Sheet Package.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operation of each department and special projects.
  • Identify risks and present solutions to guide leaders in making effective financial decisions.
  • Develop the annual operating budget, operating plan, and financial goals.
  • Achieve budgeted revenues, costs, and profits through diligent accounting and expenditure controls.
  • Set quarterly priorities and key objectives for department heads with action plans and follow-up.
  • Perform monthly forecasting of operating staff and cost expenditures.
  • Engage in business planning aligned with forecasted sales and costs, providing guidance to department heads.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of financial statements to identify and correct problems, ensure spending alignment, and plan for future business.
  • Review and approve all expenses in 'other expense' categories across all departments.
  • Regularly review major expenses to ensure wise expenditure of funds.
  • Promote associate morale and loyalty within their department and the hotel to reduce turnover.
  • Communicate, counsel, and assist in staff development.
  • Be visible and available to all associates in accordance with the Company's open door policy.
  • Attend monthly department employee meetings whenever possible.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and personal development plans for management staff.
  • Identify substandard performance of individual managers and outline improvement actions, including corrective or disciplinary measures.
  • Ensure hotel management possesses the required level of experience, knowledge, and ability to meet job requirements.
  • Review cost controls and ensure adherence to protect the hotel's property and assets.
  • Review sales solicitation activities, room night productivity, and group room rates sold by sales.
  • Review individual productivity and take corrective actions.
  • Evaluate market mix and take action to best position the hotel for increased business.
  • Involve in sales solicitation of key accounts by reviewing contracts, meeting with the sales department, and visiting key account contacts in person and by phone.
