About The Position

Health Solutions West is the Western slope’s largest behavioral health care organization, covering more than 23,000 square miles across 10 counties. With over 250 employees in Western Colorado, you would be joining a mighty team of support and administrative staff, case managers, clinicians, physicians, nurses, and others in our efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of our community. This is a hands-on management position, combining financial oversight and analysis with responsibility for ensuring that core accounting and finance processes are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. The Director of Finance will work closely with senior leadership to support sound financial decision-making and effective stewardship of organizational resources.

Requirements

  • Requires a BS/BA degree in accounting
  • 5 years of experience
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
  • Detail oriented with strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, reconciliations, and general accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting.
  • Must already be authorized to work in the US; sponsorships not available.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the organization’s day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate and timely financial records, supporting budgeting and financial planning, and providing financial information to organizational leadership.
  • Works closely with senior leadership to support sound financial decision-making and effective stewardship of organizational resources.
  • Works collaboratively with the Grants Manager and Program Directors to ensure all contracts and grants are recorded and billed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Monitors revenues and accounts receivable balances by performing monthly reconciliations with grantors and contracting agencies and ensures timely resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Monitor actual results against budget and identify significant variances or trends.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support operational decision-making.
  • Assist leadership with financial forecasting, planning, and scenario analysis.
  • Help departments understand and effectively manage their budgets.
  • Oversees the cash receipting process - ensures all entries are accurately posted and backup documentation is complete.
  • Reviews fixed asset records and associated depreciation schedules; ensures proper recording of new capital asset purchases, disposals and monthly entries using Sage Intacct’s Fixed Asset module.
  • Reviews prepaid expense records and associated amortization schedules; ensures proper recording of new prepaid assets, write-off and monthly entries using Sage Intacct’s Prepaid module.
  • Assists with the annual audit process
  • Provides ad-hoc reports and detailed general ledger account analysis when requested
  • Maintains and assess internal controls and safeguard Company assets in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices and the Accounting and Auditing Guidelines as adopted by the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration. This includes risk assessment and reviews of risk areas.
  • Supervises accounting staff through support and development – foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented team.
