About The Position

AskSage, a BigBear.ai company, is seeking a finance and business-operations partner to the business unit leader. The role owns forecasting and close, quote-to-cash, revenue operations and pricing governance, spend and procurement governance, and the controls and reporting that connect the business unit to BigBear.ai Finance & Accounting. It reports to the EVP, GenAI Platforms & Products, and leads a Business Operations Analyst and a Finance Operations Analyst. The position is remote, with the National Capital Region highly preferred. Applicants must currently reside in the United States. The Director leads finance for a defense-technology product business that combines subscription and usage-based consumption economics with government contracting. The role establishes forecast cadence, governs pricing and spend, represents the business unit to corporate Finance, and maintains close awareness of billing, pipeline, and contract data. Auditability, data handling, and government compliance expectations are part of everyday delivery. The role partners with the EVP and functional leaders on P&L, headcount, and investment decisions; manages the monthly and quarterly forecast, annual budget, and close support; and oversees billing, contract setup, onboarding readiness, usage billing, collections, cash application, invoicing, and revenue-recognition accuracy. It governs pricing and quote workflows, business-unit procurement and spend, controls and documentation, contract and vehicle economics, finance systems, reconciled revenue and SaaS metrics, dashboards, and leadership reporting. It integrates with corporate Finance on close, consolidation, external audit, tax, and SOX 404(b) control evidence, and leads improvements to existing processes, including appropriate use of AI-assisted tools with human review. The position requires at least 10 years of progressive finance experience, including at least three years directly managing analysts, and a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. The targeted compensation range is described as an estimate, but no amount is provided in the posting.

  • Ownership of order-to-cash and billing operations, including invoicing, collections, cash application, and reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. federal contracting, including contract vehicles, resellers, government invoicing and payment cycles, and FAR/DFARS cost principles.
  • Experience with procurement and vendor management and with monthly close, consolidation, and audit support in a public-company environment.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel and ability to work directly with data from billing, CRM, and accounting systems.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including explaining results, uncertainty, and risk to executive, technical, and nontechnical audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field.
  • Must currently reside in the United States.

  • Run monthly and quarterly forecasts and the annual budget; bridge Sales pipeline to bookings, billings, and recognized revenue; plan headcount, spend, and margin; support month-end close; and explain variance drivers.
  • Direct quote-to-cash operations, including customer billing, contract setup, onboarding readiness, usage billing, collections, cash application, reseller and government-portal invoicing, billing-to-general-ledger reconciliation, and revenue-recognition accuracy.
  • Run contract workflows from quote through execution and govern price lists, discount guardrails, and quote structures; provide financial analysis for pricing, packaging, and deal decisions and execute pricing and packaging changes set by business unit leadership.
  • Own business-unit procurement and spend against plan, including vendor selection and onboarding, purchase requests, renewals, and spend approvals through company purchasing and accounts-payable processes; jointly manage cloud-cost visibility and FinOps reporting with Operations.

  • Provide corporate close inputs, including revenue-recognition support for subscription and usage-based arrangements, accruals, deferred revenue, and intercompany; support consolidation, external audit, and SOX 404(b) control owners with financial-process evidence.
  • Own business-unit finance systems and data flows among billing, CRM, and accounting; maintain reconciled revenue and SaaS metrics, build leadership dashboards, and use AI-assisted tools for analysis and reconciliation with human review of ledger- or leadership-facing outputs.
  • Present forecasts, results, risks, and assumptions in decision-ready form, distinguishing booked, in-process, and projected figures.
  • Document and improve existing processes, prioritizing automation and enhancements according to risks to reporting accuracy and cash.
