About The Position

The Director of Faith Formation plans, implements, integrates, oversees, and evaluates the religious education and Sacramental preparation of the total parish community, with the primary focus on catechetical formation for K-12. Structures all catechetical formation in compliance with Diocesan Guidelines and directives.

Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic, faithful to the Magisterium, and in good standing with the Catholic Church.
  • MS in Theology/Faith Formation/Catechesis, Religious Education or related field. Work experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 3-5yr coordinating a parish faith formation program.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, organize, and oversee all faith formation programs for children K-12, and adults of the parish, including Religious Education for children and youth, Sacramental Preparation OCIA for children and adults, Confirmation for youth and adults, Children's Liturgy of the Word, and Positively Catholic.
  • Serves as a member of the parish staff. Attend all staff meetings, Diocesan required training meetings, Faith Formation team meetings, prayer days, and educational days.
  • Coordinate, plan, and oversee special events for faith formation ministries (First Holy Communion, OCIA, and Confirmation).
  • Responsible for development, implementation and catechesis of parents.
  • Responsible for the oversight, development and/or selection of catechetical programs; approval of curriculum for all age levels of the parish in accordance with the Diocese of Fort Worth Catechetical Norms and Sacrament Guideline. Manages oversight, selection and purchase of catechetical materials for Parish dissemination.
  • Oversees sacramental preparation programs in the parish including O.C.I.A., Infant Baptism Preparation, Sacrament Preparation for Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
  • Recruits and trains catechetical volunteers.
  • Supervises all parish catechetical offerings for all ages, catechists, and program volunteers.
  • Encourages all catechetical volunteers to participate in Diocesan catechist formation programs (Junipero Serra Institute; St. Francis de Sales Catechist Certification and Diocesan Catechetical Trainings).
  • Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality
  • All other projects, tasks, etc. and other tasks as assigned.
  • Leads the formation team, responsible for the guidance, professional development, for the Coordinator of Religious Education, Formation Administrative Assistant and Director of Youth Ministry.
  • Prepares and administers the operating budget of the Formation Department, in unison with Formation Staff, according to parish and diocesan policy:
  • Maintains and oversees the expenditures for materials and supplies.
  • Coordinates with the Business Manager for budget submissions.
  • Ensures the Safe Environment compliance of all volunteers (adults and teens) in catechetical programs; and ensures compliance training for parish children and youth in catechetical programs.
  • Continues personal growth in faith and professional advancement through meeting attendance, conventions, workshops and on-going professional development in areas of catechesis and evangelization.
  • Manages the proper storage and disposal of confidential information and personally identifiable information (PII) in the Formation Department in accordance with diocesan policy.
  • Acts as liaison to the Parish office and Diocese for preparation and transmittal of sacramental preparation records for Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation, and O.C.I.A.
