About The Position

The Director of Facilities is responsible for the strategic planning, management, and oversight of all facility operations within a healthcare organization. This role ensures that buildings and infrastructure are safe, compliant, efficient, and aligned with patient care objectives. The Director leads maintenance, safety programs, and capital projects while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence. Prepares engineering-maintenance capital and operating budgets annually along with providing cost estimates for renovations/construction. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, NFPA, state/local codes). Works in close cooperation with public utility companies as needed.

  • Overseeing daily operations to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintaining readiness for inspections and surveys.
  • Developing and managing safety programs, including emergency preparedness, fire safety, and disaster response.
  • Serving as Environment of Care (EOC) leader for the “fire management” plan, and committee chair, if necessary.
  • Overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, medical gas, etc.).
  • Ensuring reliability and efficiency of critical infrastructure systems.
  • Implementing asset management planning program.
  • Leading capital planning initiatives and managing budgets for facility upgrades and renovations.
  • Overseeing construction and renovation projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and compliance requirements are met.
  • Collaborating with clinical and administrative leaders on space planning and infrastructure needs.
  • Developing and managing operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
  • Managing vendor contracts and service agreements as they pertain to engineering/facilities.
  • Negotiating and managing relationships with contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Ensuring vendor performance meets contractual and regulatory requirements.
