About The Position

The Director of Facilities & Procurement owns the condition of Endeavor Schools’ buildings and the procurement processes that support them across more than 100 schools in 14 states. This leader is responsible for keeping schools safe, clean, operational, and compliant; developing and delivering school-by-school capital plans; managing facilities vendors and contracts; and helping School Leaders address building needs. The position may be based remotely, but candidates must live within an existing Endeavor Schools market where the company operates a school. The role involves 40–50% travel and responding to after-hours emergencies. The Director oversees preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, work orders, emergency response, asset inventories, capital projects, competitive bidding, purchasing standards, vendor performance, and budget reporting. The role leads two Facilities Managers and partners with the CFO, Regional Directors, and School Leaders. Endeavor Schools operates early childhood and private schools, including Montessori and Play/Project-Based programs, with a mission to inspire and draw out the best in every child, family, and teammate.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of progressive facilities management, procurement, or multi-site operations experience, including at least 5 years leading multi-site, multi-state operations and field teams.
  • Proven procurement experience, including running bids, negotiating contracts, consolidating vendors, and delivering measurable savings.
  • Experience managing both a repair and maintenance budget and a multi-site capital plan, with strong forecasting and executive-level reporting skills.
  • Working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, roofing, electrical, plumbing, and life safety.
  • Experience using a CMMS or work-order platform and purchasing or accounts-payable systems, and using data to make decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle background check.
  • Ability to travel 40–50% and respond to after-hours emergencies.
  • Must reside within an existing Endeavor Schools market where the company currently operates a school.
  • Safety-first approach, sound judgment in emergencies, clear communication, ownership of budgets and quality, and a growth mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in schools, childcare, healthcare, retail, or other multi-site, private-equity-backed environments.
  • Familiarity with licensed childcare or education regulatory requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with Service Channel.
  • Experience building a preferred-vendor network across multiple markets.
  • Credentials such as CFM, FMP, CPSM, or CPP.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day condition, safety, and uptime of every school, including preventive maintenance, major repairs, inspections, and work orders in Service Channel or another CMMS.
  • Establish network service standards, including a one-week work-order completion target, and hold two Facilities Managers accountable for performance.
  • Lead responses to urgent and emergency building issues, keeping schools open and ensuring no school operates with an unresolved safety hazard.
  • Reduce emergency repairs and repeat failures by addressing root causes and increasing planned maintenance.
  • Maintain a school-by-school asset inventory, including remaining useful life and replacement costs for roofs, HVAC, playgrounds, parking lots, flooring, kitchens, life-safety systems, and building envelopes.
  • Develop annual and multi-year capital plans; make repair-versus-replacement decisions; and deliver approved projects on scope, schedule, and budget while accounting for the school calendar.
  • Support facilities diligence and integration for new or acquired schools.
  • Create a disciplined purchasing process with competitive bids, standard scopes of work, approved vendor lists, and clear approval thresholds.
  • Negotiate and manage national contracts for facilities categories and develop vetted local vendor lists for School Leaders to use for small and medium repairs.
  • Track savings, cost avoidance, spend under management, and vendor performance, and replace underperforming vendors.
  • Coach and lead two Facilities Managers with clear service levels and goals.
  • Provide the CFO with monthly scorecards and quarterly budget reports covering school condition, preventive-maintenance completion, spending, capital status, savings, and vendor performance.
  • Partner with School Leaders on licensing, fire and life safety, health, ADA, and building-code compliance, and work to reduce citations to zero.
  • Serve as a facilities partner to Regional Directors and School Leaders, and train them on protocols, hazard identification, and budget management.
